This is my musical "portrait" as rendered by Pete Townshend's Lifehouse Method music and software experiment (2007). I feel extremely fortunate to have been a participant, and I think the music that was generated is amazing. I am currently revisiting this piece and developing sections of it. Enjoy!

360p video of Varien's Valkyrie was deconstructed into a frequency graph from the heights of the 62 bars in the visualizer. This snippet is from 55s to 1:05 during the buildup. From these 62 bins, 1471 bins were spline-interpolated, assuming the actual frequency distribution is relatively smooth.

It is not.

The algorithm used to detect bar heights was vastly improved in this iteration over the Dream Soda attempt also posted here, and interpolation eliminated coarseness in frequency composition.

Still unintelligible.

bopeep! i managed to get weird patterns out of high frequencies when utilizing sample hold and in turn controlling various midi things. I tried playing with it for a while before i settled and recorded and got some midi notes (spanning all octaves). it was kinda hard to get it to play as you wanted, more like finding some patterns where it suddenly synced and sometimes the sinewave makeup comes out in the sequence. Especially tricky since i had the same midi notes going to the bass, kick and the piano. So i had to limit which ones (by key). Kept the same midi throughout so its all in one clip except the drums. basically had to build everything around how it "happened". Then I heard a nice little riff inside of it and decided to add the notes to complement it to make a chorus. After a while i ended up with some... well human-computer interaction feel i liked. =) it makes me happy and almost a bit sad but i guess thats the b&e minor in there.
