Thanks to Distant Cry and Hightop for everything, this album wouldn't have happened without their help and support. And thank you to everyone who listened and supported my last album 'Just Myself' - I made all of these tracks whilst releasing that album, the support and feedback motivated me so much I just had so much energy to then make these songs. Took me a while to get it all mixed and finally released, hopefully worth the wait. Definitely a sequel to that one, think it follows and continues into a more positive and focused direction.

Lacouir D. Yancey, aka Bboy Spirit is a Madison WI native and Co-founder of The Black Poets Society, a hip-hop, funk and soul band of Madison WI, 1992 and founder of the Soul Hydraulics (Break dance crew) of Madison WI, 1998. Owner of Ymassage Bodywork & Natural Fitness of Madison WI since 2005, Lacouir is also a musician and bassist, writer and producer of 30+ years. Lacouir’s musical roots and style range from gospel and reggae to hip hop, NewOrleans jazz and blues to soul-funk to folk and R&B. He is the bassist and supporting vocalist for The Johnny Chimes Natch’l Blues, The Adem Tesfaye Band and The Black Denim project and supporting bassist for singer songwriter and wife Shannel Trudeau-Yancey. Lacouir has studied under various bassist and musicians such as Leotha Stanley, the legendary Richard Davis, Jason Rebke and Scott Pingels. Music influences are Chuck Rainey, Victor Wooten, Fred Hammond, Booties Collins, Marcus Miller, Jermaine Morgan, Earth Wind and Fire, the roots, tribe called quest, Mos Def, the funky Meters, and the jazz crusaders to mention a few. 
In addition Lacouir has a strong foundation Break dance aka breakin’ since the early 80’s. He eventually got into gymnastics which led to him receiving an All American Award in gymnastics on floor exercise. He has trained Capoeira Angola since 1996 with various Mestres to mention a few M. Ed Powe, M. Cobra Mansa, M. Beto Defreitas since 2005. Lacouir has studied TCM, Tai Chi and Qi gong for the last 20 years. With his movement and healing medicine background he has created his own movement and bodywork system he call’s "Freedom Movement Therapy." Lacouir has been a performer with the Peggy Choy dance company for the past ten years and has performed and facilitated dance and movement classes in the Midwest and East Coast. Lacouir recently performed a solo piece at the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater for the American Dance Guild festival December 2022.
