On December 3rd Dean presented his 300th 'In The Jailhouse Tonight' show on Sunbury Radio, and Mark and Michael from the band dropped in the studio to play two songs from the new Ravens album, "Sleep on my own" and "Roses". On the later, they were lucky enough to be joined spur-of-moment by Hamish on fiddled from the Davidson Brothers.

A track I've been keeping for myself for a long time. Want to see if it resonates with anyone else. It's about a wave.

The Wave

Subtitled "The Seven Hills" does not refer to Rome, but to the hills south of Nashville Tennessee and the aftermath of the battle described below in this musical vignette.  This work composed at Piano in my home in Nashville December 5 through 7,  2025,  output to wav format from Sibelius, and remastered at Suno.com with minimal changes. 

Battle of Nashville, Tennessee; refers to the decisive December 1864 Civil War battle where Union forces crushed General John Bell Hood's Army of Tennessee in the hills south of Nashville, especially highlighting key locations like Shy's Hill and Peach Orchard Hill, decisive high ground attackers stormed, solidifying Union control and effectively ending major Confederate resistance in Tennessee. The "hills" were the critical terrain where Union troops, including brave USCT regiments, overwhelmed entrenched Confederates, leading to a shattering Confederate defeat and retreat.

Апокалиптические образы свёрнутых небес и нестерпимого жара переплетены с тихой просьбой о милосердии тех, кто идёт к свету слишком медленно, но до конца остаётся верным пути.

Music is the object of my hyper-focusing ways! 😂 I'm primarily a guitarist, although I've really taken to the piano in the last five years or so. The two reinforce each other in positive ways, I've found. But I digress. 
Most of the songs here I've written for a personal  soundtracking-type project. I have a collection of old family 8mm films from the 1950s through the 1970s, which were preserved (thankfully) and digitized. Thing is, they had no audio. So, a year and a half later, 75+ videos into the project, and about, I'd say, 12 more videos to soundtrack? Generational contribution: complete! 🤘🏼🎸
It's really been a cool experience trying to capture different moods for different videos. It was also special to spend so much time with film of a group of people who had such a profound impact on who I have become - but seeing them here "pre-me". Seeing my grandparents dance together and go about their daily lives on film, being younger than I am now. Generations of leaves... 
I love almost all types of music. Recently, I've been listening to Curtis Mayfield, Paco de Lucía, Michael Hedges, Yes, Deftones, The Mercury Program, Ólafur Arnalds, September Malevolence. 
If there is any tune here that you like, and you're thinking, "it'd be cool to listen to this song while watching vintage, 8mm, mid-20th century American slices of life, then I got you covered!

A note about AI assist:

Regarding all my instrumentals, I composed the original works and possess the original manuscripts.  

My compositions are the source material, and for AI assist where used, I create the prompts and style instructions (which is time consuming and require hours of trial and error) at suno.com to produce the final version of the works which I feel are best. What you hear finally is at times the best of perhaps dozens of variations after much work is put in to produce the final outcome.  I try to find the right balance between what I composed originally, and what I envision is perhaps a better result with the assistance of AI.  I also aim for a realistic reproduction should live performance ever be a consideration.

For songs with Lyrics, I am the lyricist in every case, and the music is built from AI where I provide specific instructions as to style, genre, tone, key, and so forth. 

Some tracks are exceptions to the above descriptive process, and when this occurs that track itself will include how the track was developed in its description.
