Inside, Frank wakes up (PING!) and senses a technician checking on him. He is facing the wrong direction. The technician rushes to get Dr Cordoba, who grabs a couple security guards and begins heading toward the room. Before they can get in, Frank climbs out of the tank and begins pulling skullcaps off all his clones. The guards draw their weapons. In the ensuing combat, the Franks throw themselves upon their assailants, seize their weapons, and take Dr Cordoba hostage. Two Franks are killed and one is wounded as they make their escape, joining the rest of the group outside. Trae calls for a van at their location and exchanges fire with the guards, killing one of them and taking a bullet in the shoulder. Nash tells Cordoba to call off the guards. “Fuck you!” the doctor says. Nash snaps Cordoba’s arm and knocks him out. More shots are fired.

When the van arrives they pile into it, taking Cordoba with them. Reggie throws out lucid dreams to stop security from following them: one vehicle's engine explodes, and another is impaled on giant spikes that rise out of the ground.

Back on the main highway, they notice people bursting into flames in the cars around them, and giant cotton-candy clouds begin bursting into flames and falling to the ground. Reggie realizes that his lucid dreaming is getting easier and easier: Trae concludes that this reality has suffered a "fatal error" -- it may collapse at any time. "We need a ship," says Frank.

Nash has a moment of crisis as he tries to decide whether or not to kill Cordoba. This is the man responsible for everything - the loss of Suzie, the loss of Fitch, and multiple murder attempts on his own life and those of his friends... But Reggie stays his hand. "This isn't you," he says, "you don't want to carry that weight." Nash’s hand trembles, gun pointed at Cordoba’s head. Suddenly Trae solves the problem by grabbing Cordoba and tossing him out of the vehicle, where his unconscious body gets run over by another vehicle, then crushed beneath a burning cloud.

The van, now carrying Nash, Reggie, Trae, Frank and eight Frank clones, speeds away for
Diaspora Ranch as burning clouds of cotton candy hurtle from the sky.

DayTrippers Session 37-2 You Are Not Home

The year is 2122. The world is a war-torn hellscape. Far from her clan and scouting for useful wreckage in the Burnt, Ulla evades a trio of reconnaissance drones and heads toward the geothermal power plant, where she gets a weird nauseous feeling, and a Reality Fracture suddenly appears. Out of the vortex tumble Nash & Trae, whose last memory is being frozen in time on the deck of the Marduk while Reggie passed out and hit the ground. They literally crash into Ulla, who pulls them to the ground and tells them to be quiet.

She doesn't seem at all shocked to have discovered strangers from another dimension. "If people can disappear through these things," she figures, "it stands to reason they can also come out." Suddenly Nash & Trae hear Reggie laughing from nowhere, but they shake it off.

Taking them back to meet the clan Ulla introduces them to Kek, the local scrumblie matriarch, Dril, the mechanic and resident techie, and the rest of her friends. After a nice vegetarian dinner cooked by Kek and served by the kids Jake, Golli, & Cha-cha, they get word that a new drone squadron has been sent out from the city. Kek knows who they're looking for -- it's Ulla. She assigns Nash and Trae to serve as "soldiers" and sends the three of them out to handle the drone situation.  "Don't let them find this place," she tells Ulla. "I don't want to kick you out."

The trio finds a good spot for an ambush and grabs some useful gear from a rusted police car.

DayTrippers (Season 4 Episode 1-1) With a Little Help From My Friends

When the drones arrive, Trae makes quick use of their wifi network and hacks one of them into playful submission. When Trae glances at the drone's front, he sees a little 8-bit graphic that looks like Reggie, piloting the hovering death-device. The other two drones are quickly dispatched. Nash and Ulla are both hit, but their wounds are not debilitating.

Investigating the wreckage of the last drone, Ulla notices that it's repeating a message: apparently the entire area has been declared an "Active Salvage Zone," and they have one hour to leave. Without even pausing to catch breath, she turns and begins running back to warn the clan. Nash and Trae follow, with Trae's new drone bobbing along behind them.

By the time they reach the camp, however, the situation has changed. Inside Kek's hut they find a bounty hunter named Terren Baxter, who was captured and restrained by Dril and Montago. Baxter is looking for Ulla, and lets her know there's a 1 million dollar price on her head. Kek doesn't want to kill him, but she doesn't want to let him go either. "This is your problem," she tells Ulla. When Baxter tries to convince her to let him go if he tells her "their plan," Nash quickly realizes the guy is full of shit. This piece of data is all Trae needs to cut the Gordian Knot - he shoots Baxter in the head, killing him instantly. The kids find this hysterical.

It's about that time when everyone starts to get a queasy feeling - that old nauseous sensation that happens just before a Reality Fracture - and a glowing vortex appears, looking something like a birth canal in time and space. Out of that birth canal pops a glass jar with an ornate brass frame - looking something out of a steampunk world - and inside that jar is a sleeping infant floating in amniotic fluid. The infant is connected to the jar by a variety of wires and tubes. In the base of the jar, a complicated set of electronic devices maintains the infant's environment almost magically, and a transceiving device allows it to hear and speak.

It's Reggie. He just wanted to be with his friends.

Nash cradles the jar in his arms as Trae and Ulla move closer to have a look. Nash is speaking to the baby, and the baby is speaking back. Everyone else in the hut is staring at the four of them, complete aghast at what they're seeing.

"I don't know what all this is," says Kek – pointing at Baby Reggie and then looking back at Ulla – "But you all have got to GO."
