Welcome to a new episode of the NDYD Radio Show. As promised last week here is the live recording from my set at Station1640 in Hollywood, CA on November 19, 2023. The dancers were out strong that Sunday night and they they did not disappoint.

The headliner was the incredible Derrick Carter from Chicago and I closed off the night after DC’s killer set. There was also other local artists that played before and after him. Since this was a regular Sunday night I was sure that people would leave as soon as DC finished his set and that I was going to play to a thin crowd. Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. People stayed through the night and my set. I had such a blast playing for the night kats. I was definitely feeling the energy of the people dancing and that def influenced my selection of music that night.

If you were there, I hope it brings back good memories and if you were not, well at least you get to experience part of the music from that night and dance like no one is watching.

The NDYD Radio Show EP383

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
