Messing with the modular today and somehow seemed to be channeling fragments of some kind of sleazy Lynchian cabaret tune, such as might have been low in the mix at Le Silencio, the club/bar/cabaret/whatever the hell it was from his enigmatic masterpiece Mulholland Drive. Recorded to and worked up from an ipad  with Blocswave vocal samples.

Pointillist plunderphonics, spectral distillations, and sub-bass from the neighbor next door...bandwidth trios conjure sound worlds from vinyl graffiti, ambient murmurations, and broken-grid drummings.

In this episode, Giuseppe and Anthony continue their conversation on music: What exactly happens to someone when they create music?  To what extent are particular members essential to a band's being?  Are there examples of bands who kept or even increased in quality after member changes, or are changes always negative?  Which version of a song is the actual song?  Can music have an essence but also be tied to particular equipment usages?  What is the ontology of cover songs?  Are musical experiences ineffable?  Are there any sounds or patterns that are intrinsically bad, or is everything context dependent?

Workbooks: “The aim of the artist would not be to instruct the viewer but to give him information. Whether the viewer understands this information is incidental to the artist; he cannot foresee the understanding of all his viewers. He would follow his predetermined premise to its conclusion avoiding subjectivity. Chance, taste, or unconsciously remembered forms would play no part in the outcome. The serial artist does not attempt to produce a beautiful or mysterious object but functions merely as a clerk cataloging the results of his premise.”
