Just as the sun starts to linger a bit longer, Kaap, a core member of Amsterdam-based collective De Lichting, guides us through a journey of classic house tunes perfectly suited for these "still shy" but splendidly sunny days. 
It's a trip back to NYC's legendary Cielo in the early 2000s, where DJs pushed perfectly tuned Funktion-One sound system to its limits on nights like this. Remember those epic breakdance battles erupting in the middle of the floor? Yeah, that's the energy Kaap captures.

Our lives crossed over ten years ago, and the past six years saw us grow into a deep friendship. All four tracks were made around the time of preparation for a Breakfast Club ADE 2021 with De Lichting live. Three years later, we are releasing these solo club cuts.

Born in the late '70s, Simon Garcia grew up listening to iconic bands such as Depeche Mode, New Order, and Kraftwerk, alongside genres like blaxploitation funk, latin rock, rare disco, '90s house, and acid-jazz. These influences helped shape his eclectic, genre-blending sound, which is now a hallmark of his music.

Today, Simon's works are released on high-profile labels like Freerange, PETS, Compost, or Supplement Facts. He has remixed tracks for renowned artists such as Lee Burridge, Henry Saiz, Matthias Vogt (Motorcitysoul), or Kyodai, earning a reputation for his personal, hypnotic, and futuristic sound. His music has garnered widespread support from respected tastemakers such as Jimpster, Guy Gerber, Catz 'N Dogz, Ripperton, or Silicone Soul to name a few.

He's performed in global cities like London, San Francisco, Tokyo, Glasgow, Barcelona, Miami, New York, Paris, and of course, his hometown: Madrid.

His techy, synthetic, and timeless sound is authentic and unbound by trends, ensuring his place as a key figure in the international electronic music scene. Whether releasing original tracks or remixes, Simon continues to make an impact with his innovative and distinctive musical style.

Following RDS's E-mutations, De Lichting ventures into a new chapter with their latest releases, transitioning from a focus on collective synergy to intimate, individual storytelling from its core artists.

Nathan Kofi’s upcoming debut album I Am That I Am stands as the next sonic statement from the De Lichting—a personal odyssey reflecting growth, deep introspection, and identity. The album takes listeners on a personal journey through time. Each track, crafted over several years, reflects a dynamic evolution, passing through multiple phases of growth and experimentation. This carefully curated collection connects the dots between past and present, weaving together a cohesive sonic experience.

Inspired by Peter Tosh’s iconic 1977 anthem, Kofi’s album title embodies a powerful declaration of self-identity, independence, and inner strength, embracing the spirit of individuality as both a message and a movement. The album explores Kofi’s internal struggle between taking responsibility and evading it—a paradox, which can be interpreted from either perspective.

The six-track album sees Kofi navigating new creative territory. WOLKEN stands out with its fusion of Dutch lyrics and a hip-house-leaning ambient foundation, effortlessly bridging introspective soundscapes with minimalistic drum paterns. Meanwhile, EGO and EFUA dive deeper into IDM-inspired textures and broken beats, evoking ’90s-era nostalgia with layers that nod to artists like Plaid. These three tracks are further elevated by one-minute visualizers created by Djoa Lekatompessy (Hittegolf Studio), which feel more like evocative short films, enhancing the multi-sensory storytelling and adding depth to the album’s themes.

The remaining tracks, OKAERI, DJAI, and WEKŪ, invite listeners straight to the dance floor, propelled by a steady four-to-the-floor pulse. These tracks highlight Kofi’s knack for crafting emotionally resonant house anthems, drawing dancers inward while syncing their external body movements to the pulse of 909 drums, the Deluge Synthstrom, and lush LEM Bit Crumar pads.
