DETOURNEY is an Undertale AU based on and set in an alternate timeline of Escape from the Dark World in which the tournament never continued past WR2.

Lancer begins to have second thoughts about humoring the Lightners, and calls off the tournament. With no hope of them returning to their home worlds, they spread out across the Dark World and find a place to call their own. Barney has a premonition of what will happen if this imbalance between light and dark persists, and brings it upon himself to get the gang back together.

Barney is the Frisk replacement. After seeing what will happen to him and his peers if they can’t make it back to the Light World, he wakes up in an area completely cast in darkness, and very unlike the rest of the Card Kingdom. With no other choice, he presses on through the dark, beginning his journey...
