Another cheap 90s keyboard, another tune!
Some time ago I found, for 10 €, an old Casio CT-670 (1990) — an entry-level keyboard with nice sounds and an interesting tone editor. I edited a couple of timbres and arranged a deep, minimal DnB tune inspired by the Autonomic sound (Darkestral, dBridge...) of the early 2010s.
I also used a Korg Volca Sample for old-school drum breaks, running through a Studio Projects VTB1 tube preamp with a bit of saturation. For the second drum layer, I used the Korg Volca Drum with parallel distortion via a Boss Hyper Metal. The bass came from the Korg Volca Keys.
Recently, I rediscovered the gritty pleasure of tape loops, so I added a continuous pad filtered through the Korg Monotron. I recorded the performance live, then re-synced some parts to achieve a better overall sound. Enjoy!
