esc. (escapism) is a Ghent (BE) based techno movement, focused on the deeper side of the techno spectrum.

Tuulacult is the techno project of Matěj Balcar, an artist from Hradec Králové, Czech Republic, carving his own path through the underground scene with a sound that refuses to follow predefined rules. Having made music in different styles before finding his way to techno, he draws from those past experiences without planning to. It just shows up in the way he writes.

Launched in 2023, Tuulacult reflects this freeform approach. Matěj makes music by tuning into whatever he's feeling, whether it’s something he’s going through, a memory, a visual, or even a word that lingers. With a deep connection to the meditative quality of minimalism and long subtle changes, techno became a stable anchor in an unstable world.

Every track starts from a mood — something emotional yet physical — and he crafts soundscapes that are immersive, personal, and still built for the dancefloor. Some tracks hit harder, others take their time. It all depends on what the moment asks for.

Just like in the studio, his sets are personal, blending his own productions with music that moves him in the moment. He doesn’t chase formulas. Deep, raw, groovy, or hypnotic, his sets respond to the room and aim to carry the night forward.

Outside the booth, he’s helping grow non-mainstream rave culture in the Czech Republic by organizing events that support the underground. At the end of the day, he just wants the music to be real — something that speaks from the inside out.
