I wrote this track with traveling the desert in mind. A haunting string part and synth sounds gives this track a pondering mood.

To collect the sand, they have to traverse over the hot scorching desert into a dark sand pit, but this trek is very dangerous and they only take the trip once a year unless they absolutely have to go.

Delachaux is San Francisco's sonic blastronaut par excellence. As an early pioneer of the retro-electro sound he became a cherished afterparty starter for some of San Francisco's earliest neo-burlesque events. Over the years his intoxicating 'big-beat-burlectro' style of pouring vintage samples and exotic orchestrations over a barrage of saucy beats has fused a wild carousel of voluptuous voodoo and body-quaking bass that reflect both the dilated discos and carbonated cabarets of Barbary Coast nightlife and have made him one of the west coast underground's most seminal DJ/producers.

Snakes Without Water emerged in July 2019 as a conduit of desert music: melody and rhythm arriving from meandering canyons of sheer walls, sun-scorched expanses of empty, the resilient animals and plants of barren playas, and the (mis)perceptions of desperate human adventurers. Snakes surfaced from a dry fissure between pop and classical music, searching for water among dunes abandoned by genre.

By the way, THE Death Valley priest has appeared to the band on multiple occasions (as per usual, in the form of a two-headed desert bighorn sheep with Mojave rattlesnakes for intestines) and he says that he’s cool with the band playing desert music. Snakes hope to get permission to take pics next time he shows up!
