Simplicity Desert Frequency – Live @ Dead Sea 2024 [Progressive Psytrance]

What starts as a mirage of tradition soon detonates into a full-blown desert rave—“HABIBI” is an electrifying collision of ancient pulse and modern chaos. Opening with the plaintive breath of ney flute and the soft rattle of riq, the track lulls you into a moment of Middle Eastern intimacy—until the silence fractures and you’re hurled headfirst into a 145 BPM psytrance inferno.

Autotuned Arabic vocals twist through layers of gated synth stabs and maqam-tinged trance leads, as the beat drills through the dunes with ferocious intent. Every drop hits like a sandstorm in a laser show. Equal parts nostalgia and future shock, "HABIBI" is a love letter screamed through smoke and strobes, where traditional soul meets unrelenting electronic heat.

I. The Violet Arrival
Astra Veyl never trusted the horizon of any new planet until she could taste its light. Rhythmea’s dusk tasted like violet sugar and static. The starship’s hatch yawned open onto an obsidian plain where each footstep chimed against glassy rock. Far away, a saffron aurora pulsed in sync with something deep underground—steady as a heartbeat.

Her mission log, still flickering in mid-air, claimed the world was long abandoned. Yet as she knelt to brush the soil she found no soil at all—only faceted crystal chips that sang when the wind shifted. She felt the hum through her boots and through her bones: a metronomic throb of 129 cycles per minute. An impossible coincidence. She’d listened to rumors of Rhythmea since cadet school: “The planet that writes its own dreams.” But none had spoken of the mirrored grass.

A gust cut across the plain and dimmed the aurora; for an instant the land went translucent, like a sheet of smoked quartz. Curiosities aside, Astra’s reasons for coming were personal. Somewhere on this world, the legend said, was a field that could split a person into every version they might have been. She wanted answers only the lost echoes of herself could provide.

The horizon shimmered again. This time it bent—an origami fold in empty space—revealing a corridor of triboluminescent wind. Hexagonal snowflakes spun upward inside the fold, glowing neon-blue. When she stepped nearer, the fold flexed, inviting her inside.

She exhaled. Adventure begins when comfort ends. That had been her academy instructor’s mantra. Astra touched the pane and the portal swallowed her whole.

II. Through the Glitch-Wind Corridor
Inside the tunnel the wind blew in all directions at once yet felt perfectly still. Data-flakes drifted through her suit’s grav-field, some brushing her visor, each displaying cryptic star-maps before dissolving. Mushroom caps bigger than her fists grew straight from the air, iridescent gills exhaling spores that danced like coded confetti. She tried and failed to catch one; it split into prismatic motes and reassembled farther on, laughing in colors she could hear.

Time distorted. She felt stretched, then compacted, then stretched again. Eventually, the corridor pinched down to a door-sized aperture fringed with living circuitry. A single step and—

Techno, Trance, Psytech, Psytrance, and other liquid psychedelic music is where I'm the happiest but I do love a lot of Latin, Tribal, Trip Hop, Lofi, Chillhop so occasionally I'll release something off-beat.

Born in the dust-filled vibes of a ‘90s apartment, Grass Patch Bum started spinning records back when vinyl was king and internet cafes were revolutionary. Armed with a crate of vinyl, Grass Patch Bum dived headfirst into underground raves and sweaty house parties, learning the art of blending beats on turntables and (eventually) the "futuristic" CDJs. But the journey didn't stop there.

After taking a hiatus to dive into the world of FL Studio and dissect the mechanics of production, Grass Patch Bum came back stronger, with a repertoire of original sounds and the technical chops to match. Fast forward, and they've turned dancefloors upside down from Thailand to Vietnam, Bali to the heart of Europe. Now, powered by Ableton Live and a creative arsenal that refuses to stay in one genre, Grass Patch Bum weaves sonic journeys that blend groove, grit, and just a sprinkle of nostalgia for the good ol' days.

Since childhood, she has been inspired by myths, legends, magic and fables from around the world and has profound appreciation for global musical traditions. At times her sets will be light and dreamy whilst at other times they may reach into the darker, kinkier explorations of sonic territories.
