From April 26th, a new radio single by [Ex] da Bass (Mareks Dainis) titled “Deja Vu”, is a collaboration with the young yet internationally recognized dance music talent from Finland – Devinity (Joel Pirinen), is now available on the biggest music streaming services across the world. The song is retained in the best traditions of modern commercial dance music of Latvia and Finland. The vocals belong to the Finnish singer and songwriter Joanna (Joanna Heikkinen), whose voice resembles one of the biggest singers of our time – Dua Lipa.

“I was introduced to Devinity at a party in Helsinki, Finland, where, as a part of my previous collaboration, I went to perform with the world-famous Spanish DJ, winner of the EDMA 2024 “Best Remixer of the Year”, Sak Noel. Joel is only 24, but his music has been played over 10 million times on streaming platforms. A fact worth mentioning - he has collaborated with such amazing dance music artists as Calvo, Dazz and Viva La Panda. And this is just the beginning! He describes his sound as a combination of pop and dance music which is perfect for both - radio and dance clubs. After chatting for a few hours, we found out we were on the same page and should do a record together. Here it is! “Deja Vu” is an energetic, airy, summery and catchy song - suitable for radio, hot beach parties and big festivals. This is already the third [Ex] da Bass single this year, and I suspect it won’t be my last, as several other thrilling projects are in the works,” says [Ex] da Bass.

I've been making electronic music since I bought my first synth (a Juno-60) and a Tascam 4-track way back in about 1986. I work with singer-songwriters and performance artists, and compose for modern dance and theatre. The pieces here represent recent electronic instrumentals, where I’m exploring/experimenting/having fun with 'pop' music production techniques and composition. [EX] DA BASS is an internationally acclaimed artist and well known person in Baltic’s show business industry – most popular DJ in Latvia many years in a row, the host of EHR (European Hit Radio) show “Party Service” and David Guetta official warm-up DJ (LV show).

Not just content with dominating the DJ scene, in 2009 this hugely respected artist also released his first single “Riga Nights” and subsequently a year later “No More Lonely Nights” with UK vocalists Ian Brearley and Rita Campbell, followed by “I Need Somebody” in 2014, later “Boring Games”, remixes of Aminata – “Love Injected”, Justs – “Heartbeat”, Triana Park – ”Line”, Laura Rizzotto – “Funny Girl” (Eurovision songs from Latvia in 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018), “Riga Nights 2016”, “Like A Melody” with Estonian vocalist Jana Kask a remix of Bob Sinclair – “Someone Who Needs Me” and finally – he did tracks “Love Is A Gift”, "Find My Way", “Rising Up” as well a remix for David Guetta, Martin Garrix & Brooks club anthem “Like I Do” and modern and bold cover version (with REZarin) of the legendary British band Simply Red's hit “Fake”.

Throughout his career, [EX] DA BASS has rocked all the biggest and most recognizable clubs and EDM festivals in the Baltic States; also played at Loveparade 2006 in Berlin and performed in night clubs and events in Finland, Germany, UAE, Turkey, Russia, USA etc. He shared stage with many big names like David Guetta, Westbam, Moguai, Tomcraft, Burak Yeter, Dr.Motte, Cosmic Gate, Tungevaag & Raaban, GTA, Dallas Superstars, DJs From Mars, Deepend, Felix Catral, Sash, The Second Level and many others.
