This is now and always has been the sound of me... this is what I love, this is what I have always loved!   So many times in my life I have searched for an alternative sound to embrace or tried to curate a sound that would be more current (or dare I say, more popular?)  But "more popular" with or for whom?  

The truth is that playing other sounds and/or genres of electronice dance music is interesting and enjoyable and it never is a bad thing to be more diverse in what you do and who you are...

HOWEVER..... electronic music, just like life, is always best when it happens organically and without pretense...... 

Growing up around Detroit, Michigan - - - the sound of me has ALWAYS been techno and although it's been more than a minute since I've mixed the sound that I really love, there is no denying it when it just happens without intention.

Entirely BASS HOUSE focused, with an emphasis on RAVE SOUND with GLOBAL BEATS, UKG, BREAKS and more.. I cannot emphasize how much this is a testament to my personality and groove. OUR MEMORIES OF MUSIC ARE SCRIPTURE ...
Adriana Sparkuhl, co-founder of San Francisco’s iconic Soundpieces crew, is a mixed queer Chilean-Arab American. A lifelong master painter who thrives in underground culture, ravey bass music, and ethnic sound seduction, she performs under the alias NUNYA—a name derived from “nunya business,” always enthusiastic to take a comedic play on words, she emphasizes that she is anyone and no one, a servant of sound. Music and art takes center stage, while us servants are simply vessels. Additionally, Sparkuhl is a hybrid nun of her own kind, not only did she retreat to church camp every summer to sing with greek orthodox nuns in a barn and danced with her church competitively for over a decade, she's been practicing various pagan and nature forward magic throughout her life. She is also a founding member of a secret all female angel-witch society.

Sparkuhl (her real surname) learned to DJ on vinyl during her adolescent rave days in Las Vegas. After 15 years of building Soundpieces—a party crew renowned for debuting dubstep legends since 2006—she returned to the decks, bringing her raw, genre-blurring style to the spotlight.

NUNYA’s sonic roots trace back to the early 2000s, when she immersed herself in the thriving drum & bass and speed garage scenes at Vegas’ notorious AWOL racetrack raves . Her sound today reflects that versatility: from funky, dirty house and UKG to basshouse, heavy DnB, dark dubstep, explicit rap, and sensual, immersive soundscapes.

Raised around music from a young age—piano, vocals, and a near-overload of dance—NUNYA’s journey on the stage began before she can even remember. Though she spent years behind the scenes and behind a mask, she’s fully in the light, and it’s clear there’s still much more to come.
