Disquiet Junto Project 0574: Audio Journal 2022
The Assignment: Create a sonic diary of the past year with a dozen (or more) super-brief segments.

As soundcloud already is my musical diary, the filter was "published on soundcloud, but not for disquiet junto and not a Bandcamp album". By synchronicity the result was 23 tracks. Triggered by this number, I set the speed in Reaper to 22bpm and decided to give them all some bars. Each snippet is now 10.909 seconds long, which I could not relate to 22 or 23, but it's the day the Truman show went wrong (and the movie started 24 years ago). The audio excerpt of each track was mostly choosen visually in the end of the first third. I preferred light fades (25% of the lenght) over hard cuts. Some volume corrections. No FX. Fun fact: this is now track 23 on "disquiet III", my (free) album with (selected 'best') tracks I did for the junto in 22. https://krakenkraft.bandcamp.com/album/disquiet-iii

Jonathan Zorn works as a composer, performer, and curator of experimental, electronic, and improvised music. His electronic music pairs improvising musicians with interactive computer systems to create hybrid, human-machine ensembles. Zorn's interest in vocal utterance has resulted in a series of pieces in which spoken language is interrupted by electronic forces, drawing attention to the gap between speech and sound. Zorn has been active as an improvisor on bass and electronics for 15 years and has performed at Red Cat, the Walker Art Center, the Verona Jazz Festival, the Library of Congress, the Seattle Festival of Improvised Music, Line Space Line Festival, and the Chelsea Art Museum. His work has been published in Ord und Bild, the SEAMUS Journal, Notations 21, and UbuWeb.
