"Dark Music for Disturbing Times” was created during one of the toughest periods of our lives, a time of grief, inner chaos, and emotional fragmentation, marked by the passing of our dad. This album became a space for us to process the unprocessable, to turn silence and sorrow into sound.

These tracks are raw and unfiltered. They don’t follow rules or seek comfort. Instead, they dive headfirst into the psychological weight of loss, the dissonance of grief, and the disturbing quiet that follows chaos. There’s beauty in places, but it’s a fractured beauty, shaped by distortion, tension, and the urge to hold on to something real.

It’s not an easy listen, and it wasn’t meant to be. This is music for moments when words fall short. A reflection of a world turned upside down, both inside and out.

We made this to survive, to understand, and to honour what we lost.

Our home is a beautiful blue planet drifting in space. It is the only home we have which can sustain us, the only home we have ever known, and the only home we will probably ever know. We share it with each other and the entire natural world, but that relationship is at risk of changing forever.

Prompted by a conversation between DJ Mary Anne Hobbs and Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja in November 2024, "One Point Five> Two” is a commentary on the persistent collective inaction of global governments to heed scientists' warnings about the challenge of climate change, imagining how a balanced, harmonious ecosystem can slowly unravel and descend into chaos and hostility.

Put directly, "One Point Five> Two" is not music for pleasure. It is intended to be unsettling, uncomfortable, and at times even physically unpleasant to listen to, reflecting the nature of the future which scientists warn we, and our children, could face.

An EP conceived during a recent trip to northern Sweden. Fusing field recordings taken from the trip with atonal synth snippets and vocals recorded at home in a way that reflects the vastness and harsh climates of Nordic landscapes.

We are Turtlejuice, a brother and sister duo making dark electronic music. We grew up surrounded by music in a home surrounded by travelling musicians, and creating together has always felt like a way to connect with our old selves and remember our roots.

Our tracks are reflections of who we are and where we’ve been. We’re drawn to contrasts, the push and pull between simplicity and complexity, light and shadow, structure and spontaneity. That balance is at the heart of everything we make.

Turtlejuice is about following curiosity, breaking away from the expected, and making space for the strange, the beautiful, and the honest. 

We hope our music offers that space to anyone who needs it.
