Even though the weather here hasn’t really felt “summerly” these past few weeks, I’ve had an amazing time. I got to visit and play at some incredible places, spent a lot of productive hours in the studio making new music, and, maybe most importantly, had the chance to really be with friends and family. Tomorrow we will close this wonderful summer together at Distant Beach. I can't wait to spend this beautiful time with you.

Compared to earlier this year, I feel like I’ve truly found my groove again when it comes to making music. I can be very perfectionistic, always wanting to perform at my best. Which can sometimes knock me down and demotivate me immensely. It’s so easy to be strict with yourself, to believe you have to work every second and try to force the process. But it's way harder, and just as important, to tell yourself to stop and give yourself the time and space to do something else. Watch a movie, play some games, go out and get some food with friends. It’s not being unproductive, it’s recharging. I really believe that when you’re enjoying life, you’re able to create your best work. Running on empty is never going to help

Maybe this month’s episode can be that little moment of space and time to recharge. Hope you enjoy

Cold  Weather

I took my own advice from last month and went full nature mode for a little bit. Time away from screens and work, surrounded by mountains, trees and fresh air, just slowing down for a bit. It gave me the chance to reset, recharge and really think about what comes next. Stepping outside of the routine is never wasted time, it is what allows you to see things from a wider perspective.

Now that I’m back, I feel eager to dive into work again. At the same time, there are so many projects waiting that I don’t even know where to start. It’s quite overwhelming. I’ve always told myself: it’s not about tackling everything at once, but about taking small steps, one thing at a time, and trusting the rest will follow. Let’s see if I can take my own advice this time.

In the meantime, fall is arriving. Summer is amazing, but seasons always change, and personally, I don’t mind it. The shorter days, the colder air, the cozy atmosphere that seems to be everywhere. There’s something comforting about it, and I think that feeling made its way into this month’s episode too.

Maybe this mix can be a small reminder to take it step by step and enjoy what is, not what was. Hope you enjoy.

PS. next month is episode 100! And for that we will have a special episode. However, that does mean that the next episode will be uploaded little bit later than usual, but hopefully worth the wait 🔥

Distant Episode 99 / October 2025

This is a song I created for the Halloween vibe. I love the old retro ps2 aesthetic and when I heard this beat, the rap elements with the 8bit sound I fell in love. This song is about finding out your ex lover was actually a demon yet you still crave their love and so you enter the demon castle and you face all of the obstacles to face your demon lover to defeat them but as the song goes on it is revealed that you still have feelings for them and are still hypnotized by their charm.

The Inchindown oil tanks is a disused underground oil depot in Invergordon, Ross-shire, Scotland. The tanks hold the record for the longest reverberation in any man-made structure. surpassing the Hamilton Mausoleum in 2014. 
     
Convolution reverb is an audio processing technique that reproduces the acoustics of real spaces. It does this by using an impulse response, a recording that captures how a space reacts to a brief sound, such as a clap or starter pistol. When applied to another audio signal, it recreates the reflections, echoes, and ambience of that environment, making the sound appear as though it were recorded within the space itself. 
     
This track uses an impulse response recorded in the inchindown oil tanks to make it sound like the synth is in there.
