Top class gentleman, DJ and Distant Worlds label owner from South London - Paul Rimbaud - has joined the philosophical ride, enticing us into his inner sanctum with an expressive mix of 90's vibes rave & breaks action. The "matchball" he refers to below is to get a mix onto my new Nietzsche Lessons series, Avenue Red and Avenue Red 1210 - the only man in the known universe to do so, so far. And he's smashed this one 5-0. Invisible mixing, totally seamless. Get your raving boots on. Reach for the lasers. Safe as fuck!

Paul Rimbaud wrote: "God is dead" spoke Nietzsche but somewhat negated the power of the declaration when he went and died himself, thus allowing God to declare "Nietzsche is dead". At least he would have if Nietzsche hadn't already done him dirty. Anyways turns out that the only positive maxim we can lay our faith in these days regards the late 20th century assertion that "hardcore will never die". Accordingly I've engaged in a Hegelian dialectic on the hardcore continuum in an effort to reach some degree of polyrhythmic synthesis; old stuff, new stuff, all sharing a common denominator - the breakbeat. 

To be quite honest, being a miserable sod, I always related more to Schopenhauer personally but I think we can all at least agree that there has never been a party that hasn't been livened up by debating long-dead German existentialists. In a direct affront to nihilism I am proud to collect the Pritchard match ball with this mix so may I implore all the listeners to let inspiration be your ecstasy and ecstasy, your inspiration.

Originally composed by Nobuo Uematsu for Chains of Promathia (2004), an expansion pack for Final Fantasy XI (2002). Arranged in 0CC-FamiTracker using both the Konami VRC6 and Nintendo MMC5 chips.  This is a reupload; the previous version was too quiet, so I retooled all the instrument volumes.

Paul Rimbaud spent nearly a decade performing along Spain's Costa Del Sol as Elvis²  where he would sing Elvis Costello songs in the style of Elvis Presley but finally hung up his blue suede shoes in the mid-2010s after succumbing to the same predilections as the king himself, namely pills and cheeseburgers. He cleaned himself up, got sober, and turned his attention to his first true love, the rave. Seven years back he started the label, Distant Worlds, focusing on spacey, dreamy techno informed by the golden 90s era and more recently has also expanded into IDM territory with The Imaginary Museum. He has released music from the likes of Cignol, The Jaffa Kid, John Shima, Derek Carr & Sound Synthesis amongst others. He has a regular slot on London's AAJA radio and very occasionally plays further afield under the name of 'Kabij'.

Distant Worlds welcomes back Sound Synthesis for a second outing of warm, melodic electro. Fine attention to detail, crisp sonics and deep bass complete the package for an exploration of harmony across all 4 tracks.

‘Unification Exploration’ opens with mind bending acidic lines and dark cavernous bass complimented by uplifting and contrasting countermelodies. ‘Be Humble’ is an invitation to pair organic, warm buss pulses with crisp percussion, hypnotic synth lines and heartbreaking pads and strings.

The B side is equally strong kicking off with title track, ‘Unification of Harmony’ – a true delve into form, function, and astral melodies. Ascendant synths draw the listener in while the majestic growling synth bass and twisted acid patterns herald a dancefloor smasher. We end with ‘Dear Ballacid’, dedicated to a true hero of the underground techno world and his fantastic YouTube channel. All the ingredients of a true classic are here; thoughtful and futuristic, emotive and punchy, sure to leave not a dry eye in the house.

I'm Dermot.  I arrange chiptunes in FamiTracker, 0CC-FamiTracker and Dn-FamiTracker, and I programmed FamiTracker-related calculators in JavaScript for both halflife fades and pitch slides.  A 7-Zip archive of my FTM and NSF files along with my calculators can be downloaded from the link provided.  I update the archive whenever I make or update a chiptune.  I was originally invited by my friend Pongball to share my music on SoundCloud, and I'm grateful for her support.
