Sungate joins friends and family with a V.A in support of the victims of the storms in Valencia.

On October 28th, flash floods decimated the better part of the southern and western areas of the Valencia province, alongside many other points of spain. What followed was a catastrophic event resulting in storm surges, collapsing bridges, thousands stuck on roads and streets, ultimately leading to a death toll that is now estimated over 200, and unfortunately, rising.

Homes, animal shelters, businesses, personal property, and ultimately, families, have been destroyed by this catastrophe. an event that caught thousands out in the street, heading to and from school, work, and daily lives unalerted. severe warnings only got to our phones 10 hours after, despite being warned by weather centers and flood prevention institutions for days.

With Sungate’s staff both residing and having ties to the city, we’ve decided to release “Healing Rays”, a V.A with 22 tracks to gather funds to re-distribute to those most in need, buy essential products and help in the re-construction of a damaged region. We are joining a series of charitable releases from others in the city that has seen a wave of supporting press, and more importantly, an overwhelming amount of support.

We are infinitely thankful to Maspaventi for mastering this release and all the artists that have given their music away for the cause.

DJ Sodeyama’s been around since the 90s, a Tokyo-based whizz and DJ’s DJ, whose career has offered the type of sound many selectors would envy. It’s incredibly sharp, meandering along its intelligent thread in unexpected and high-minded ways. Since the early noughties he could add producer to his soubriquet too, flexing his minimal muscle with early releases, a steady stream of ensuing ventures further cementing his craft via Korean-based deep techno distributor Artscope, Dynamic Reflection, illegal alien, Daybreak and many more. He’s also explored adjacent genres and ventured into the world of house under his parallel alias The People In Fog. Pretty full plate, but the quality of his sound has suffered nothing for it. His techno is an expert tapestry of interlaced details and lingering moods, injected with raw feeling and undeniable skill. It darts from peak to peak, fusing frequencies riddled with forward-pitched elements and vivid effects, and forges a long-range feeling that abuts the realm of both man and machine. Thick and volatile techno that serves as proof that the genre can keep expanding outwards in fresh and surprising ways. Bassiani Podcast 260 moves the needle further, it's quintessential Sodeyama: vivid climbs and steep descents, warped vocal samples, brave and unbending beats for prime-time raving.

DJ Sodeyama returns to Sound Of Vast under his The People In Fog guise this June
with the nine track ‘Too Much Knobs And Cables’ LP.
Over the past three decades DJ Sodeyama has been a staple in Japan’s
underground and beyond across the globe as a DJ and releasing material under his
own name via the likes of Radio Slaves’ Rekids, Dynamic Reflection, Nina Kraviz’
трип and more. Here though, he makes a welcome return under his The People In
Fog alias to Tokyo’s Sound Of Vast, the platform that’s played host to all of his
material under this alias as well as others like The Mole, Shinichiro Yokota, San
Proper and more.
Across the nine-track ‘Too Much Knobs And Cables’ LP, The People In Fog once
again radiantly showcases his depth and understanding of true underground
sounds. From the classic Deep House aesthetic of opener ‘Red Morning’, ‘CC Love’
and ‘New Life’ to more classic Chicago House inspired cuts like ‘Animal Kingdom’,
‘Jack Out’ and filtered Disco house jams like ‘Dance To The Air’, ‘New Life’ and
‘Miraval’.
Sodeyama also dives deeper beyond House once again in true long player fashion
to deliver the unique 80’s tinged, funk-infused and vintage synth/drum machine
laced ‘Night Driver’ and the cinematic closing piece ‘Sun Moon Lake’, which leans
into a Balearic sonic world via drifting guitar melodies, arpeggios, acid licks and a
crunchy rhythm section.

The People In The Fog is a moniker of DJ Sodeyama. He has been a stalwart of the Tokyo underground for nearly three decades, cutting his teeth in the 90's and retaining a key presence at the forefront of Japan's house music scene.

Over the years he has released a sprawling array of music under a few monikers on the likes of Zenit, Rekids, Quartz and трип. However most recently he has been operating under the guise of The People In The Fog which has afforded him the chance to dig deeper into his sound channeling elements of funk, downtempo and the dubbier undertones of house.

He has released this material on Japanese record label Sound Of Vast and for dj's in the know those records have become a 'buy on sight' scenario.

This mix showcases versatility and class. Tight blends, excellent, deep thoughtful selections.
