Spinning Tales: Inside the World of DJ Deejay

This is the Politics of Dancing interview series from 9/13/24.
This week I had the amazing experience to chat with Marsh a British.. now American Dj and Producer, mostly known for his work on Anjuna Deep Recordings. He is embarking upon his solo Dj and production tour , kicking off the US leg here in Philly! He and I spoke for nearly an hour about his craft, his process, gear he uses, the stresses and joys of tour life, what it was like getting signed to Anjuna Deep, making the epic “Come Together” with Nox VAhn and those wild “on the road” sets that he produces and records with the help of a multicamera set up and drones in some of the worlds most stunning locations. 

Now,with more singles than than I can count, three albums deep into his career and with the acclaim and success of his latest body of work,‘Endless’ in 2023, he embarks upon Aria , a multi-city US tour.  

Tom has an array of widely supported anthems in his discography, streaming well into the millions and winning support from electronic music’s biggest artists, including Cassian, Pete Tong, Diplo, RÜFÜS DU SOL and of course….. ME!

John Rynecki | Chicago Series — Building Chicago’s Electronic Music Culture & The Vision Behind CEMC

Aji and Byrd are long time close friends, record collectors from their childhood, musicians and selectors of music from around the world. Now based in Montreal, they have lived in Colombia, Ecuador, France and the U.S. where they have never stopped gleaning music and building their groovy collection. The pair share their love for jazz, carribean, latin and all kinds of hip-swaying music.
The sounds they select will no doubt get you out of your seat or at least get your attention.

Born and bred in Washington, Keith Harris (a.k.a. Deckard) starting DJ-ing in 2000, at venues and clubs in Seattle and Canada.  He moved to San Francisco in 2005 where his skills and talent evolved and became even more prolific, garnering interest and accolade and earning him a spot in the underground music scene.  


Deckard made his big splash as a member of Coda in 2006 at Burning Man. Soon after he joined forces with the Space Cowboys whose parties are legendary in San Francisco and Burning Man and whose Ripecast podcast was nominated for Best Podcast of the Year by Breakspoll for 2013. 



Mixing together a blend of music selection including, but certainly not limited to breakbeat, nu funk, and house, Deckard keeps crowds on their feet and moving backed by his unique sound and ability to mix genres whether it be playing a sunrise set at Breakfast of Champions or closing down the main room in front of a packed warehouse.

Deckard has performed in a variety of venues on the west coast and Canada with DJs such as Jondi & Spesh, Uberzone, Lee Coombs, Plump DJs, Dylan Rhymes, Meat Katie, Elite Force/Simon Shackleton, Worthy and more.

Max learned to play with vinyl and the Pioneer Players at the age of 15. Then he deciced to go deeper into music. At the age of 16 he attended a music production school in Cologne. There he learned the production of electronic music.
Max celebrated his first notable success with the title "strange world" which achieved good chart positions at beatport and traxsource.
And in 2022 he was part of the "Rave the Planet Parade" with over 200,000 ravers.
Max is now a resident of the "Back to Dance" series. And in 2023 he played at the opening of the "High Noon" series at Bollwerk Cologne as well as at the Nature One Camp on the Pydna Alliance Stage.
His musical style is not easy to classify. He combines trance elements with progressive techno sounds.

An all encompassing EDM radio show that airs from 10:30pm to midnight (eastern standard time) every Saturday through 93.3 fm frequency. The show is hosted by local DJ/producer's who possess a passion for the electronic music scene. The show is an hour and half long featuring artists from almost every genre under the umbrella term of EDM.
