I don't think there's any secret where the inspiration behind this comes from. Fear Factory, Strapping Young Lad, and Meshuggah are the soundtrack to significant portions of my life.

The whole song was basically written for the last riff at the end. I had a Microbrute for a little while, so the intro sounds are the Microbrute processed through filters in serum. The main early guitar riff reminds me of Slipknot, but I can't say that's what I was going for. What comes out of you is what comes of you, I guess.

Guitar is an Ibanez 8-stringer tuned EAEADGBE, though outside of the solo, only the lowest (pitched) three strings are in use. The more I play this thing, the less I think I'm an 8-string player. Maybe a good 7 in an open tuning would be the way to go. I feel like I can't really make use of that last string.

The solo is through a whammy pedal pitched up 3 half steps. 

Oh, and this one is probably a little more "me" than the synthwave stuff. Though, you can't take yourself out of the music, no matter what you do.
