A Fallen Kingdom

I'm back!

First, I'm sorry for being gone for so long, I just needed a break, y'know? I went through a whole huge block and final exams were stopping me from composing a bit. I REALLY needed to rest.

Second: This is my first piece in my study of modes. This song is in Dorian, which is probably my favorite mode so far!

And now for something completely different… 

In parts of Europe we have monthly balfolk events, with live acoustic music and European folk dances like the Mazurka, Polka and the Schottische. There are lots of young subculture folks and almost everyone is on the dance floor. The vibe is always social and kind of sweet. When I went balfolking again (thanks to JOrk :-) after a break of 10 years, I got the idea to write a Flemish Mazurka inspired song; a waltz with an occasional silence on the third count, which feels like a slowmotion – a slide in time.

Love In The Space

Dorian Urac is inspired by 80s new wave, alternative rock, nostalgic lofi recordings and cheesy outdated music from the 50s and 60s. 

Dorian's first and only gig was in 2007, at a closed playground, where a shady intergalactic convention of evil overlords took place. (True story, obviously they were not quite right in the head.) Ever since, Dorian decided to remain a cozy stay-at-home rock star.

Dorian’s music mixes ethnics sounds and melodic vibes with a subtle touch of Afro House. Combined in an eclectic soundscape with pumping vibes drawing from organic sounds, he often likes to start his sets with groovy, low tempo beats and finish with more techy songs. His production style, has been commended by some of the scene’s most respected artists, including Black Coffee, Dixon, Sebastien Leger and Nic Fanciulli to name a few.
