Dorian (Chaos Mix)

A song about all the creative craftsmen out there since the start of the Industrial age, who made a study, a passion and a living out of things that suddenly became out of fashion due to big tech inventions and a shift towards cheap mass production, robotics and AI, causing loss of income and a feeling of irrelevance in personal lives. 

In the 19th Century, calligraphers were replaced by typewriters, painters of portraits by photography, specialised craftsmen by huge warehouses. In the 20th century, tailors were replaced by fast fashion and cheap fabrics, furniture and tool makers by mass production, and nowadays, in the 21st Century, graphic designers, copywriters, illustrators, musicians and composers are replaced by AI. This time, there are no substitute creative jobs other than AI taking over entirely, while its algorithms are obviously based on stealing art from the living. 

Will human craftsmanship soon be a side note for the history books? Does mankind even care, or does the majority only care about maintaining their personal high level of consumerism? Is there any hope we will one day free ourselves from the laziness? Or are we doomed to live a life in the shadow of our own inventions?

The word ‘rain’ in the song title not-coincidentally contains the letters ‘ai’. AI pulp is like a constant stream of heavy rain, flooding everything.

Inspiration: 70s to 90s altrock, 80s new wave, nostalgic lofi recordings and cheesy outdated music from the 50s and 60s.

Dorian's first and only gig took place at a closed playground, where a shady intergalactic convention of evil overlords took place. (True story, obviously they were not quite right in the head.) Ever since, Dorian decided to remain a cozy stay-at-home rock star.

Hi there!  My name is Siobhán (pronounced Shiv-ON), I'm 28 from Dublin, Ireland.  I enjoy music of all kinds.
