I'm going to say it, I love Robotnik's theme in Sonic 2 (and it's my fave) but I just fricking love his theme Sonic 3. My word, it's an electronic vamping dream with a sense of desperate emotion driving it. The theme sounds like you have to really beat him and I love Dr. Robotnik in general, he's easily one of my fave video game villains ever. Enjoy people!

Years ago, I did my own version of the soundtrack of the original Sonic the Hedgehog game and although I love it to pieces, it is the second game in the series that I love more fondly. I also rearranged/composed elements for my own version of the game's soundtrack last year, which turned out better than I'd hoped. 

Since then, I have been wanting to complete the trilogy as it were and do justice to Sonic 3. Sonic 3's scope was much grander than 2 so the game was split into Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles respectively. For this first half I will be uploading the tunes from Sonic 3 first. Then, under a new album cover, I will upload the tracks - that are currently in the works - from Sonic & Knuckles so watch that space. Also, the multiplayer/competition tracks will be uploaded with them too.

My approach to this project was once again that I wanted to evoke a sense of retro-gaming nostalgia mixed with some of my own electronic elements to bridge over play-loops. The overall scale and rhythms of Sonic 3 is a lot more complex and it was a challenge to get the notes and themes in place. Not to mention in the original soundtrack, there were elements from Michael Jackson's sound team under the banner of Brad Buxer. Now, under copyright laws, I cannot use the original sound effects from those tracks but I have done my best to replicate/replace them with sounds I have in my software. 

I hope they take you back to a time of childhood, a time of simpler times and cracking break-through, "got to go fast" games.

A remix I made of the boss theme from the Sonic the Hedgehog game Sonic Superstars, a theme originally composed by Jun Senoue. This remix nearly doubles the length of the song, with a brand new second part for each half.

I partially made this remix due to...how short the original song is- 13 seconds for one half, doubled via a pitch increase. 
On one hand...that's way too short and repetitive for a platformer boss theme in modern times. I think it's even shorter than the Sonic 4 boss pinch theme, in fact. I even initially intended 2 additional sections to each half instead of 1.
At the same time, though, I understood what it was that Jun was trying to do, in evoking the short length of the classic games' Eggman battle themes. Plus, I'm not so innocent in certain past endeavors of mine in suggesting merely repeating a song at a higher pitch to elongate it as the only length enhancer. So I'm the kettle calling the pot black in this case...or was it the other way around?
Therefore, this balances/compromises what was intended (a short old-school battle theme with a pitch shift) with what could be needed (just a second part before and after the pitch shift).

And there are a lot of bangers in Superstars despite also being repetitive.

Also, I didn't quite have the Genesis soundfont on LMMS (though if it's there or there's a free VST of such elsewhere, I'd be interested). As a result, I made due with what I had. My apologies in this regard.
