SFMD is a Belgian band from the French-speaking part of the country (Liege). The band has produced 2 albums since forming in the late 2000s. SFMD has had the opportunity to play on a number of Belgian stages, as well as performing in Paris, Moscow and even...Salt Lake City!

SFMD has entered into a stimulating collaboration with an Australian producer based in Los Angeles - James Bowen aka Droid Bishop, a rising artist on the international Synthwave scene. The single "Valentine" was released at the end of 2021, reinforcing the band's Synthwave influences. SFMD are now concentrating on releasing 9 singles between now and 2024: these will form the basis of their 3rd album, due out at the end of 2024. 
Having really grown up in the 80s, they're faithful to the sounds, melodies and colours of their teenage years, and they're firm believers that it's possible to evoke the 80s through original compositions with a pop edge: they grew up with Depeche Mode, Talk Talk, Duran Duran, David Bowie, Giorgio Moroder, John Carpenter films, the music of Jerry Goldsmith, Stallone and the rest... Yes, they used to ride BMX bikes through their home town, drive through the woods for hours without a phone in their pocket, play with LEGOs and wear out their ATARI 2600s and Commodore 64s until they were hungry! They are the generation of Flashdance, Flash Gordon, Rocky, Indiana Jones, Gremlins and Back to the Future, and they want to continue to dream, share and move with the panache of the artists of those decades. who brought them to life... LAU (Pronounced /lɑu:/) is Laura Fares, an Argentinean singer, songwriter, drummer, producer and prominent figure in the Synthwave and Retrowave scenes, currently based in Barcelona. Her music blends Retrowave and Synthpop with a strong 80s influence. 

LAU’s debut album ‘BELIEVER’ was released in 2021 with acclaimed success and international press coverage.  The album reached #14 on the Apple Music Electronic Album Charts in Canada, #3 in Turkey, #4 in United Arab Emirates, #5 in Finland, #7 in Switzerland and #12 in Ireland.

LAU’s second album 'CIRCUMSTANCE' was released in February 2022, reaching #7 in the UK on the Apple Music Electronic Album Charts, #2 in Paraguay,  #4 in Portugal and #6 in Switzerland.

LAU’s music has appeared on the latest Victoria’s Secret ad campaign and she has appeared in publications such as Billboard, Rolling Stone, Mixmag, DJ Mag, Marie Claire and many others. LAU is also Creative Director at Aztec Records and Aztec Latin, a UK record label she co-funded in 2010.
 
In 2022 LAU was selected as a Keychange artist among 600 applicants, a EU talent development programme that promotes gender minorities in music. She’s also been nominated for the Spanish Independent Music Awards in 2021 and 2022 for Best Artist and Best Album.
