“A lot of times I’ll watch a movie or just be in silence and just let my thoughts ruminate,” says Quintin Cardilla. “I have to think about the music and nothing else.” 

Focused. Dedicated. Passionate. Those are just some of the ways to describe the dubstep producer–also known as 5PLEE. 

Born and raised on the West Coast in Santa Cruz, Ca. 5PLEE brings a hyper-fixated heavy bass sound to the game. He was raised on everything from old school hip hop like Ice Cube, NWA and Public Enemy to punk rock, metal and grunge with influences ranging from the Dead Kennedys to Electric Wizard and Nirvana. 

“I remember my dad gave me cassette tapes of Black Sunday by Cypress Hill, Ice Cube’s Death Certificate and he put me onto N.W.A.’s first EP with “Dopeman,” he says. “There was some wild shit on that record, especially for the time.”

From those musical roots living in a beach town it was only natural for 5PLEE to hear dubstep at an early age in middle school. However, it wouldn’t be until 2017 a year after he graduated high school that he started making and producing his own tracks. 

“I went over to a buddy’s place and he was running FL Studio just making beats,” he remembers. “I had been consuming a lot of music and eventually got to a point where I needed to let out some of my own. So that day I went home and got the FL Studio trial and spent hours upon hours everyday learning how to use the software.”

Originally dropping original tracks as 5IVE, he changed it up to 5PLEE in 2019 and began mixing a blend of riddim, heavy bass, and dubstep for a sound that’s uniquely his own. What followed has been prolific with him consistently working, remixing and releasing new tracks. In 2024 he dropped 13 new tracks including his Night Terror and Lost n Found Vol. 1 EPs along with singles “Adult Swim,” “Ur So FU**d,” “Magma” and his remix of Zone 2’s “No Censor,” the last of which just came out in December. 

5PLEE’s sound encapsulates the darkness within. An avid horror movie fan, he incorporates a vibe captured from his favorite movies like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Just like watching a scary movie, his deep dub sound drips with paranoia and anxiety but in a way that leaves the audience craving the next jump.

Monoblur (Ruslan Davudov) is a future garage and electro project from St. Petersburg. Known for its dark, atmospheric and melodic sound, Monoblur has released music on various labels around the world. His track "Return" reached №1 on the Junodownload`s Worldwide Chart for UK Garage Music. The producer performs at various events in St. Petersburg, including the "Кастры" and "Уличный художник" festivals, at the last of which he shared the stage with 90s Russian hip-hop legends Bad Balance and Mr. Малой.
