This is an hour-long ride through dub, dubstep, reggae and many shades between. I’m not sure I got all the subgenre names right, but expect a steady ebb and flow of energy, sometimes smooth, sometimes heavy, sometimes STFU and enjoy. Follow the sound and see where it takes you! This set is perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon, or for that hazy after at 6 in the morning, with leftover pizza and a cold bottle of hibiscus-infused sparkling water. Just a suggestion.

“Free Private Taxi” is a dub-soaked midnight ride: heavy bass like tires screeching, echoes like drunk laughter from the backseat, and lyrics that perfectly capture the honor (read: idiocy) of always being the one who drives.

No GPS, no cash, no glory — just headlights, sarcasm, and fuel money straight from your own pocket. It’s Uber without the 5-star rating, Lyft without the tips, a taxi service powered entirely by poor life choices and emotional blackmail.

So buckle up. The clown’s at the wheel.
And yes… the ride is always free.

The Black Beanie Dub project was born at the end of 2016 in the south of France, near Marseille. After playing and composing together in their youth, the two friends, composers, and sound system enthusiasts released their first album and quickly set out to build the sound system of their dreams: the Black Beanie Sound.

Over the years, they have leveraged their musical experience and skills by collaborating with some of the biggest French dub labels (ODG, Rootical Attack Records) as well as with dozens of international and local artists, singers, and instrumentalists to make sound systems come alive. Their warm-sounding music is played on a sound system that is thoughtfully designed and handmade, complemented by the medium-high frequency section of the famous Black Board Jungle Sound.

Today, Black Beanie Dub continues to create and share their music, both online and in sound system sessions.

Behind the machines stands Bob Rooky, a creative alchemist juggling two passions since the late 90s: electronic music and graphic design. Born in 1974 near Paris, he witnessed the digital revolution transform both artistic realms.
His musical journey unfolds through The Rooky Flange, pushing boundaries between jungle, reggae and experimental sounds, while Rflange Project explores editorial ventures and visual storytelling.
Years of computer-assisted music production have shaped his unique sonic universe, where his graphic designer's eye creates bridges between visual and audio landscapes. Driven by passion for electronic sounds and visual creation, Bob Rooky continues contributing his own flavor to France's rich electronic scene.
