Referring to the range of values that a system can capture, represent, or reproduce. Dynamic range can be applied to audio, photography, or dance. In audio, it pertains to the difference between the softest and loudest sounds a device can accurately handle. In photography, dynamic range refers to the range of tones, from the darkest to the brightest, that a camera can capture.

In the context of ecstatic dance, dynamic range refers to the spectrum of movements and expressions a dancer can embody using motion, energy, and emotional states with fluidly and curiosity. From subtle and gentle motions to bold and powerful movements, this dance aims to stretch the dancer to their limits, in order to create a more immersive and transformative dance experience.

I'm thrilled to share with you my latest track, DanceMyFriend.

Over the past four years, I’ve been on a journey of discovering and developing my own sound. Driven by a love for music and a desire to express myself, I’ve tackled many challenges with limited technical knowledge and a modest budget. Despite these obstacles, I’ve been committed to capturing the dynamic and resonant feel of music that makes you want to move.

About the Track:

DanceMyFriend is a 12-minute piece crafted using Ableton Live 11. Designed to be intentionally loud and punchy, it features a distinctive 90 BPM groove. The track showcases a blend of distorted sounds and inventive textures, creating a dynamic and engaging listening experience.

The production process involved using MIDI DIN thru techniques, trigger sync, and warping recorded loops. Converting these loops into MIDI allowed for creative re-imagining and the addition of new instruments. The Roland TR-08 played a central role, providing improvisational beats that shape the track’s energetic rhythm. The result is a track with powerful rhythmic energy that pays tribute to classic beats while exploring new sonic territories.

With its emphasis on dynamic range and musicality, the mix maintains a vivid and immersive presence. The track balances an energetic, punchy sound with a rich, expressive quality, offering a fresh take on nostalgic elements and a compelling auditory experience.

The Creative Journey:

Building my setup has been a gradual process filled with trial and error. Economic constraints and technical hurdles have guided my choices and pushed me to be creative. While I’m pleased with how DanceMyFriend turned out, it has involved multiple revisions and adjustments to achieve the final result.

Crafting raw, hypnotic soundscapes through live improvisation, I shape my music using analog synths, MIDI expression, and evolving loops. Each track is a moment captured—built in real time, always in motion. Rooted in dark minimalism and experimental energy, my sound thrives on contrast: deep and driving, yet fluid and unpredictable.

I work from a self-built, upcycled studio—created piece by piece with reclaimed materials, echoing my approach to sound: building something new from what already exists. Field recordings, analog textures, and intuition guide me. I don’t polish things to perfection—I let the edges stay rough, organic, alive.

My music explores the spaces between reflection and movement. Mindset blends beauty with unease, weaving deep textures and minimal rhythms into a dreamlike but unsettling atmosphere. Electronic Chant, born from a day in the forest, channels that same tension between nature and machine—ambient layers meeting organic techno pulses and vocal fragments. Both tracks reflect an ongoing journey toward immersive, emotional listening experiences.

This isn’t background music. It’s music for falling into—cinematic, meditative, raw. As Anca, I’m not here to follow trends. I’m here to build sonic worlds that breathe and move on their own.
