Derick has left behind Amanda, Jason, and the organization they represent. Even Claws in the Dark is part of his past. 

In an effort to live a normal human life, he finds a new place to live. Unfortunately, it seems he still can’t shake demon hunting. He can’t let humans die. 

The army shows up “asking” for his help; Amanda’s gotten herself captured by an old creation of hers. Derick is ready to tell them no, but she's not the only one who’s been captured. Is he ready to face what she created? Can he save the only person he knows to be a friend?

The World Which Is follows Dennis, as he goes from missing his Choosing Day, to setting out into the world to get away from his father and accomplish a quest related to the class he ended up with. Only for that to get derailed when another explorer wants something he inherited, and is willing to have Dennis killed for it.

On the run, set to teach that man a lesson by getting what they are after first, Dennis teams up with the man who saved his life, the man’s sister and a bard looking for her own stories to sing about, Dennis will discover that for all the horror stories his father told him about life under the system, there is also a beauty to it, a wonder, and it’s entirely possible that the call to adventure might make Dennis change all the plans he’d carefully made for his future.
