My guest this week is And today my guest is Eoin O’Sullivan 

Eoin is an IT Analyst with the Digital Advisory Centre / Learning Technologies centre at UCC.

He has a long and varied working history in UCC - from stacking books as a student, as a Library Assistant including a stint in CUH library, Tech Support in Library IT, DAH as a technologist, AVMS, and now with Digital Services( IT). He was hastily involved with 98.3 FM during an unexpectedly long period of post vacancy.  He also did the MA in Film Studies and a part-time cert in the Music dept. 

He loves music and has played since he was a child.  He has performed and written music over the years in bands such as Exit Pursued by a Bear and others 

Recently, he performed to over 2500 people in the Troxy London at Voices of Solidarity  for Palestine with comedian activist Tadhg Hickey, performing their brand of comedy folk.  

 

He also played guitar on a song 'I Feel Alive' by his friend Sonsie which you can currently hear on TG4's programme adverts.

On my Monday morning show I have guests from around University College Cork who pick the music and then we chat about those songs and also chat about their work and the role  libraries  play in their lives.

My Thursday evening show is called the Quiet Shush and the music is of a more mellow kind.

Yama Gata is an electronic project of Simon Grech based in Malta, blending the raw emotion of film scores with progressive house music. With a passion for exploring the boundaries of sound, Yama Gata's music takes listeners on a journey of self-reflection, emotional depth, and mental liberation.

Born into a musical environment, his journey began at the age of 6, when he started studying piano at the prestigious Johann Strauss School of Music in Malta. Early on, a love for classical music was nurtured, but it wasn’t until his teenage years that a fascination with machine-made music emerged.

Drawing influence from a diverse array of film scores and electronica, Yama Gata's sound is as much about deconstructing musical norms as it is about capturing raw emotion. His tracks often explore themes of self-reflection, confronting fear, and magnifying the emotions that often lurk in the depths of the mind. Through his music, he seeks to empower listeners to break down their mental barriers and face their true self.
