傲慢な王子がいた。顔立ち、能力、全てにおいて自分が最も優れていると信じてやまない王子だった。態度のみで民衆の反感を買い続けてきたが、その立場故に反抗する事を許された者はいなかった。
ある日、彼は暗殺された。忍び寄る影に気付く事も出来ず、背後から心臓を貫かれた。傲慢ゆえの油断によって彼は呆気なく生涯を終えた――かのように見えた。
彼は再び息をし始めた。何が起きたかも分からないまま、ふと鏡を見る。確かに優れてはいたはずの顔は――否、その頭ごと、人間のそれではなくなっていた。かつて頭があった部位には、青い惑星が浮かんでいる。それを見て彼は言った――「素晴らしい！」と。
彼は殺されたのではない。呪われたのだ。その呪いによって、彼の体は容易く致命傷を負うほどに脆くもなったが、彼自身がそれを察する事はないだろう。

彼は傲慢な王子なのだから。
