O.M. Rising!

Born in Jamaica in 1952, Olive Morris moved to London with her family at nine years old. Following an incident with the Police aged 16, where she tried to defend the unlawful arrest of a Nigerian diplomat, she was physically assaulted and racially abused by the police, arrested, and given a three-month suspended jail sentence. This incident gave rise to Olive's commitment to challenging oppression. Throughout her life, she campaigned for racial and gender equality, squatters rights, led protests, demonstrations, and co-founded the Brixton Black Women's Group in 1973, one of Britain's first networks for black women.  Morris died aged 27.
 
As a young Black British woman of Jamaican heritage, I have been inspired by Olive's Morris' legacy and composed this piece in honour of her memory and the values she fought for that remain as relevant today as when she was alive. The central pulsing rhythm that weaves its way through the piece forms a part of Olive’s heritage and belongs to the Kumina Tradition in Jamaica. Kumina is a religious group, which originated in Congo, West Africa, and was brought to Jamaica by the free Africans who arrived between the 1840s and 1860s. Kumina is the most African of the [cultural expressions] found in Jamaica, with negligible European or Christian influence. The three most important elements in a Kumina session are dancing, singing and drumming. 

Within the form of the piece, I wanted to explore the challenges, sadness, strength, persistance, frustration and hope of a single voice motivated to inspire change by speaking out against a broken system.

Farbwende explores the intersection of sound, image, and emotion. An audiovisual art project shaped through electronic music and AI-driven creation.

A light in the darkness of Northern Europe has started to shine through. 
MARTIN K4RMA is Finland’s most promising techno artist known for his unique hard-hitting Techno kicks, hypnotic beats and dark atmospheric and emotional soundscapes.  

Martin developed a passion for electronic music at a young age, inspired by the early 2000s EDM scene. However, it wasn't long before he started producing his own tracks, incorporating his love of techno with his own personal style. Martin's early music career began as a DJ, playing at countless clubs in Helsinki.

His productions quickly gained recognition within the techno community and led to his first official EP on a respected techno label called Codex with German legends Teenage Mutants. His sound has been supported by the likes of Richie Hawtin, Joris Voorn Wehbba, Layton Giordani, Joris Voorn, Monika Kruse, Maceo Plex, Joseph Capriati, Luigi Madonna, and Paco Osuna to name a few. 

Martin's live performances are also highly regarded, with his infectious energy and unique mixing style. Martin remains dedicated to the music and the underground scene that he loves. He continues to push the boundaries of techno, experimenting with new sounds and techniques to create music that is both innovative and timeless.

I am  a songwriter based in Co. Leitrim, in the West of Ireland. I have been writing songs for as long as I can remember and have played in bands, and solo, since the age of 13.  Songwriting has always been my passion and I love the challenge  of writing in various genres. I have had some success, with my songs being placed on hold for various projects with Sony and Capitol. Several of my songs are currently  signed to various Publishers and song pluggers in the United States and the UK. I have also had the privilege of taking part and performing backing vocals on the Irish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1997, with Marc Roberts, where we came second.
