It’s that spooky time of the year again and Paul and Eli are celebrating Halloween a little earlier than usual! On this week’s episode, it’s going to get ghoulish with a range of spectre-adjacent gummies and fizzy pop to enjoy. With the release of the Beetlejuice sequel, a few brands have chipped in with their own special edition treats. Maynards have something called “Spooky Gums” for the Cheap Chaps to wrap their taste buds around and Fanta have a green Apple flavoured soda to sup! Do either celebrate the “ghost with the most” or will they both horrifically underwhelm? Oh! After weeks of fierce internet debate, CheapShow has finally gotten its hands on Heinz’s Monster Munch Pickled Onion flavoured Mayo. The results will not surprise anyone! Elsewhere in this edition of the pod, Paul is trying to get Halloween vibes going by showing Eli his latest “foggy” gadget. As for Eli, he has something of his own to share this All Hallow’s Eve. The return of an old CheapShow treasure reveals something haunting, terrifying and even possibly dangerous! Ep 407: Talk To Us

Paul is back from his week away in Los Angeles. It was a chance for him to actually unwind and enjoy himself, free from the burden of his podcast duties. However, he wasn’t completely “off the clock” as he managed to pick a few things up from his vacation for the podcast to nibble on and evaluate! In fact, you could say both Eli and Paul are in very chipper moods, despite one of them feeling under the weather and the other a little jetlagged. Over the course of the next hour, Eli will sample some very tasty, and much loved, mustard as well as some moreish snacks bought from the Little Tokyo part of LA. Paul also has a little taste test he wants to try, as he pits the American branded chocolate bars against their UK contemporaries! There’s a Kit Kat, some Rolos and a Snickers bar to compare to see which is actually better, the USA or UK version? Finally, Paul pits Eli to a Goodwill store sourced Price of Shite, with some items chosen to appeal to Eli’s passions. Everyone is feeling good this week, let’s see how long that lasts!

Ep 410: Hot Gesture Avocado

Following the successful live show back in October, Paul and Eli have been graced with an assortment of gifts and items for the podcast to enjoy! There is quite a lot to get through, and the Cheap Chaps have to start somewhere, so why not start with a mystery bag of goodies from Andy and Louise! In what ends up being one long “Price of Shite” challenge, there are eight items to investigate and evaluate. Ep 411: A Liquid Crystallized Display

It’s another bag of random nonsense this week, as Paul and Eli bravely dive into a troubling world of second hand treats and terrors. As donated to us by Ash at the October live show (viewable on YouTube now!), it’s a bag with a proper mix of tat. What follows is another typically CheapShow wild ride covering the horrors of TikTok, dog treat toys, VHS based board games, advice from Timmy Mallett, unbelievably awful pun work, pyramid puzzles, and a wallet of DVDs with a grotty surprise! To make things more maddening, Eli is desperate to try out a brand new character but because Paul is poor evil, there is a very good chance this new character will be dead on arrival. If you want to know how old Paul and Eli feel these days, this episode will give you a very clear answer to that question!

Ep 412: Utterly Random

Before we end 2024, Eli has been itching to do another Noodle Pot Blitz episode and now is his time to shine! He’s brought along four examples to slurp down and review and it’s quite the mixture. There’s a Maggi Hot Cup, A Bachelors Pasta N Sauce, An Itsu Satay Rice Noodle and a ruddy Chicken Fajita Pot Noodle to devour and only one hour to cram it all in! Will the Pot Noodle be a pleasant surprise or will the Itsu live up to its underwhelming track record? You’ll find out in this instant noodle munch off. If there is any kink in this plan, it’s the fact that maybe, just maybe, Paul is losing his mind (again) this week. He must be overcome with noodle joy or something!

Ep 413: Another Noodle Pot Blitz

There is only one week until the 6th Annual Office Xmas Party and Paul & Eli are in desperate need of supplies! They venture out into the real world to get a bit of shopping done and pick up a few prezzies for the party guests. The Cheap Chaps will start their adventure by exploring the charity shops of Muswell Hill before venturing into the crowded, brightly lit streets of central London. Along the way, they’ll meet a grotty old Santa, a pirate, some inquisitive tourists, an angry shop assistant, deafening buskers and a “winter wonderland” that fails to impress! It’s the final walkabout of 2024 and Paul & Eli will have another noisy, rowdy, silly and predictably anti-climactic journey! Ho Ho Ho!

Ep 414: Joy To The Walk (Stereo Edition)

It’s the FINAL episode of 2024 and it’s time for the 6th Annual Office Christmas Party! Paul and Eli want to end the year in style so have decided to rent out a room in the newly decorated “Spoff & Pickle” Pub. They’ve got enough to eat, drink and merry and ALL they have to do is behave themselves and not act rude or rowdy. The Landlord seems friendly at first, but it quickly becomes obvious that he will NOT tolerate ANY filthy comedy… If he catches them in the act, there will be consequences. Violent Consequences! With those rules in place, it’s time for a BUMPER episode of the economy comedy podcast. Joining Paul and Eli are special guests Ethan Lawrence (Afterlife, Horrible Histories) and Louis King for a mammoth knees-up (What happened to Ash and Tom?). They’ll be Xmas flavoured snacks to rate, a seasonal dinner Pot Noodle to tolerate, Christmas Trivia to conquer, cracker gags to complain about and some cheap and cheerful presents to share! Will they all survive the party or will the MANY new characters, Eli’s drunken singing, Ethan’s facts, Louis’ bemusement and Paul’s vulgar joke theft lead to disaster? “Yule” have to find out by listening!

OK, so we lied! It turns out THIS is the final episode of 2024! We thought it would be fun to record a “real time countdown” episode you can listen to as you await the chimes of midnight to celebrate the New Year. Over the course of 60 minutes (or so) Paul and Eli have a few drinks, think about the past year (but not too much) and dive into a few PO Box offerings to see what treats (or tricks) lie within! Expect the usual mix of muck and mirth as the cheap chaps encounter unusual sexual practices, classic Japanese board games, odd candy, spooky vinyl SFX records and all manner of grubby nonsensical tangents!

Ep 416: New Year With The CheapShows

Paul and Eli are still recovering from their New Year’s celebrations so, to give you a Friday fix of CheapShow, they’re opening up the Patreon vault to deliver another thrilling edition of “Nightbussin”. It’s the Patreon exclusive podcast that sees the cheap chaps picking a London Night Bus route and travelling along its whole length! In 2024 they chose the Super Loop bus, the SL7, which travels from West Croydon in the South of the capital all the way round to Heathrow Airport in the West. It’s also one of the longest bus routes you can take! However, in this particular episode, there is serious doubt whether they’ll actually get to the Bus in time! It’s a mix of travelogue and “real time” psychogeography musings. Journey with Paul and Eli for another laid back Night Bus romp that mixes the dumb with the delightful!

It’s been a while since Paul & Eli grabbed their 7 inches and pleasured your ears with their meaty musical musings. It’s time to see what odd audio discoveries they’ve found in another vinyl Platter Spectacular. There are six tracks to listen to this week, ranging from the wonderful to the woeful! Featuring such delights as dancing crocodiles, Atari themed ballads, rude remixes and conga line party hits! It’s a proper weird mix of music and, as if that wasn’t enough, there is the return of the tragic TrackBot. However, Paul has a plan to help the robot out from his usual mucky misfortune, but will it work? It’s music time!!
