Today I’m speaking to Mosidi Modise, a South African social entrepreneur and finance intrapreneur at Allan Gray. When I met Mosidi I was immediately calmed by her presence. Her empathy and kindness make her deeply human, as well as her energy and passion to make a difference in the world.

On top of her full-time job at Allan Gray, Mosidi is trying to raise awareness around sexual harassment and help reduce violence and homelessness, as well as prepare people for the fourth industrial revolution. 

We talk about her upbringing in the Freestate province of South Africa, and how she ended up running a guesthouse at the tender age of 20. We also spend some time discussing running and nature, passions we both share.

Renee Pettinger serves as the executive director of Midland's Open Door, a crisis shelter and soup kitchen ministry serving the Midland County community. Renee has served as an advocate for children at risk and for the homeless for the past 20 years. She completed her undergraduate studies in urban ministry at Moody Bible Institute and her MBA in nonprofit management at Hope International University. 
 
Marty Cooper is a New Jersey native who moved to Beaverton shortly after September 11, 2001, to be closer to family. Marty has lived in the Beaverton/Gladwin community for nearly 20 years where he worked in industrial manufacturing. 
 
Wife to Aaron (Chemical Engineer at Dow) for 26 years and mom to 2 young adult (Ethan & Jordan) men and two teenage daughters (Lindsey & Lauren) Reneé Deckrow has lived in Midland since 1997 and permanently in 1999. Founder & Owner of Live Oak Coffeehouse, Real Estate Developer and photographer for Captured Photography, Reneé wears many diverse hats, but she most loves being called mom, wife, friend, sister and neighbor. She is passionate about creating space for others to pause, connect, create and grow. Caregivers - needed now more than ever - experience physical, emotional and psychological burdens as they empathetically serve those who are sick, disabled or dying. The toll these stresses take can result in depletion and ultimately caregiver burnout. Effective self-care protocols for caregivers are essential for resilience and longevity. From our caregiver training manual, we describe the stages and warning signs from stress to burnout. We introduce the concept of "energy exchange" and its potential contribution to caregiver distress. We also talk about the importance of caregiver awareness of their physical, bodily sensations and the clues these sensations give for releasing stress and restoring well-being.
