Astral Projection - The Astral Files 1996 (Full Album)

Sound design is the key factor in this latest Interbay track to post here on SoundCloud.  There is a lot going, but no so much that it becomes listenable.  Each sound seems to have its place, every toe dipped into a particular genre pond is always dipping into the same river.  

If all that sounds a bit too "in the clouds"--well, that fits this track quite well, too.  

Drenched in reverb, this track started out as a fairly basic house track that I'd temporarily named "housework".  It has come a long way since then--as there are some crunchy bitcrushed almost industrial sounds, some edm plucks, club beats and break beats...and when the song incorporates some afrobeat guitars, you realize that there's no limit to where this track might take you.  

Something you may not catch at first, but it IS purposeful that at the start of the track, the spoken words are hard to decipher--with the reverb and the other vocal processing--but, and it isn't entirely linear, the vocals become a bit clearer.  Almost like learning, becoming more actualized and present, or just gaining wisdom from time spent.  

With a title like "Zentrification"--there is some abstract relation to the concepts of Zen in this song.  While there is some humor baked in (pretty much true for every Interbay track) at no point is this track are the tenets of Buddhism (or anything else for that matter) being mocked.  I did not know when I gave this track this title that "zentrification" isn't just a clever pun, but it is a known phrase to describe something unfortunately too common.  No association with that whole concept should be implied nor was it intentionally included.  Not by me (and who else would there be?)  

Slower than a club track, faster than a chillout tune, noisier than anything relaxing, but more relaxing than a middle of the night floorfiller--it feels like it could be all things to everyone (or it could be an abomination that scares small children as it rampages through the city streets.)  

...hopefully not the latter.

Hailing from Dallas, Tx, the thought provoking, new-age composer known as 'LessProblems', is an independent Artist that is pushing the boundaries of making commercial music out of a personal diary.
