In composing this music, I wanted to illustrate the courage and fighting skills of the Spartan soldiers who lived in Greece during antiquity. They were so courageous, so gifted in the art of combat and as strategists, that they succeeded in slowing down prodigiously the immense army of the greatest world power of the time, the Persians, while the latter were in great numerical superiority.
