Over the past years French artist and Forest ill Records co-founder Nemo Vachez has been producing music based on several influences and emotions to make every artists’ dream come to true, namely to come up with an entire album. The eleven-tracker Epitome is released via Nemo’s own imprint and rings in a new cycle, maybe even a new era of the label as it showcases a more varied and complex side of his productions. With releases on renowned labels such as Truly Madly’s Mindhelmet, Sex Tapes From Mars, Mitch Wellings’ Space Tours or LOWMONEYMUSICLOVE, just to name a few, Nemo Vachez doesn’t need to prove that he could’ve released his debut album anywhere else as the artist is happy enough to enjoy a certain musical freedom, when it comes to his productions. Shortly before the HipHop, IDM, Breaks, Vocoder-album or maybe 80/90s infused album is dropping in stores, Nemo sat down with Torture the Artist to speak about Epitome, the early days of Forest ill Records and, of course, digging new music.   People with pathological narcissism may experience suicidal behaviors when they feel their sense of importance or superiority has been threatened. This can lead to anger, loneliness, and feelings of uselessness, which can then lead to shame. Shame can cause intolerable anguish, which can lead to surrender and suicide.

  Obsessed by endless ruminations, demented by pain and the reactions to maltreatment - sleeplessness, malnutrition, and substance abuse - the victim regresses, shedding all but the most primitive defense mechanisms: splitting, narcissism, dissociation, Projective Identification, introjection, and cognitive dissonance. The victim constructs an alternative world, often suffering from depersonalization and derealization, hallucinations, ideas of reference, delusions, and psychotic episodes. Sometimes the victim comes to crave pain - very much as self-mutilators do - because it is a proof and a reminder of his individuated existence otherwise blurred by the incessant abuse. Pain shields the sufferer from disintegration and capitulation. It preserves the veracity of his unthinkable and unspeakable experiences. It reminds him that he can still feel and, therefore, that he is still human.

These dual processes of the victim's alienation and addiction to anguish complement the perpetrator's view of his quarry as "inhuman", or "subhuman". The abuser assumes the position of the sole authority, the exclusive fount of meaning and interpretation, the source of both evil and good.

Abuse is about reprogramming the victim to succumb to an alternative exegesis of the world, proffered by the abuser. It is an act of deep, indelible, traumatic indoctrination. The abused also swallows whole and assimilates the abuser's negative view of him and often, as a result, is rendered suicidal, self-destructive, or self-defeating.

Thus, abuse has no cut-off date. The sounds, the voices, the smells, the sensations reverberate long after the episode has ended - both in nightmares and in waking moments. The victim's ability to trust other people - i.e., to assume that their motives are at least rational, if not necessarily benign - has been irrevocably undermined. Social institutions - even the family itself - are perceived as precariously poised on the verge of an ominous, Kafkaesque mutation. Nothing is either safe, or credible anymore.

Victims typically react by undulating between emotional numbing and increased arousal: insomnia, irritability, restlessness, and attention deficits. Recollections of the traumatic events intrude in the form of dreams, night terrors, flashbacks, and distressing associations.

The abused develop compulsive rituals to fend off obsessive thoughts. Other psychological sequelae reported include cognitive impairment, reduced capacity to learn, memory disorders, sexual dysfunction, social withdrawal, inability to maintain long term relationships, or even mere intimacy, phobias, ideas of reference and superstitions, delusions, hallucinations, psychotic microepisodes, and emotional flatness. Depression and anxiety are very common. These are forms and manifestations of self-directed aggression. The sufferer rages at his own victimhood and resulting multiple dysfunctions.

He feels shamed by his new disabilities and responsible, or even guilty, somehow, for his predicament and the dire consequences borne by his nearest and dearest. His sense of self-worth and self-esteem are crippled. Suicide is perceived as both a relief and a solution.

Torture the Artist - your source for contemporary electronic music

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'. This medium gives DJs and producers the artistic freedom to highlight their different musical styles while not being restricted by factors such as setting, and connecting them to a wider audience. 

Being in its ninth year, Torture the Artist has gained a strong and active online support group, including music enthusiasts to label managers and artists themselves, creating a cohesive community with music as their bond.

What is an Imago?
The term "imago" comes from the Latin word for "image". In Imago Relationship Therapy, it's understood as an unconscious, idealized concept of love that an individual develops during childhood, often based on their experiences with their parents or other significant caregivers.

These early interactions shape a child's understanding of what love and relationships are like, and they develop specific behaviors or "survival patterns" to obtain love and feel safe.

Skorpius is curated from refreshed perceptions and clearful visions for the creativity of percussive electronic music, also known as electronic dance music.

This project consists of both slow rhythms: down/mid tempo (Organic, Bass Music, Ethnic Fusion, Stomp, Tribal/Shamanic Sounds), and on the other side, the faster rhythms such as Progressive music (Light & Dark Progressive and Bush Prog, DeepDay Time) and Primal music.

Being a longtime supporter, in 2023, Skyle (pre-revamped project) has been signed in as Label DJ by Universal Tribe Records - an Australian based music label.
The revamped project of Skyle will be representing the label with the new-refreshed project, named 'Skorpius'.

Soundscaping: swampy, deep atmosphere, driving basslines, ancient tribal, organic and intelligent sound designs. Being versatile, Skorpius is able to craft both nighttime and daytime sets.
