"For this inaugural edition of Temple, another new adventure alongside Josephine, I approached the set in a natural way, with only a few secure tracks and others chosen from many I've selected over months but haven't played for one reason or another. Given the volume of music circulating nowadays, my premise is mostly not to repeat them, a manifestly failed attempt to give visibility to so many creative and talented agents.

Horizontal listening events are my favorites. If we add that they are among familiar and new faces, it is in these moments where we can unleash our imagination without complexes and in a comfortable environment. If, in addition, it is playing at home, as is the case at Espacio Perpendicular, the result is perfect.

"Chapter 01, slot 01... Regarding the lineup, I packed an opening suitcase with records from the region, spanning various eras. The first reference I included was "Inducing The Pleasure Dreams V2," a live recording of Justo Bagüeste & Suso Saiz at Periferias in 2016, and from there, whatever could happen before and after. From Dalila to Charly García with "Yendo de la cama al living," both for the name and the mood, which is how I envisioned the event and how it turned out: bodies rested and affected by the sound. Thanks for listening, and to my friends for making it so special".

"Preparing the set for Temple was already special for me because I wasn't just thinking about what I wanted to do or communicate, as on other occasions, but how I could musically connect with Suso Saiz, whom I deeply admire. We decided not to talk beforehand and engage in an exercise of experimentation, presenting it with the trust generated by the event organizers, the other participating artists (also friends), and the attendees, among whom were also many friends. The result was magical; musically, we transitioned from the most subtle drones to moments that were even noisy, and it seemed like we all floated in a limbo that made the two hours fly by".

"In this special DJ set for the opening of this new project, temple, I mixed another batch of treasured tracks from the past, the outcome of my predilection for the calmer side of 90s IDM and Braindance, and their countless subgenres that were practiced in the culture movement of chill out. These alternative spaces to the dance floor served as both a sensory springboard and a pond of disconnection. It was a time that I had to live through, but thanks to the review and current knowledge capacity, I can reach deeper corners of the work of essential underground artists of that era. As always, in this type of sets I like to work with favorite ingredients like melodies and experimentality, progressive developments, hints of acid and psychedelic spirit, to cook atmospheres fluctuating between expansion and contraction, sometimes more introspective and sometimes full of contained euphoria".

"Arriving into Temple, already dipped into the most sacred silence and the most daring sounds, not seeing but feeling the familiar faces and expert listeners was somehow intimidating, but also encouraging and exciting. I had prepared a hybrid live set, djing several recordings and reviewed old tracks i compiled through the year, on preparation of another live set for Mostra, and a sp404+FX full of sounds, sampled movies, sequences and patterns to fill the gaps and refill the most dance-oriented moments of the set so there could be a little more entropy and fun.

The idea was the "interruptus' vibe where full dances would be difficult but the movement and weird hand twists would arrive through extra filterings, complex pseudo beats and dub passages of the set.

The sound and gear at Espacio Perpendicular are also intimidating for those of us not used to such definition, so the experience was even more brilliant. Doing lo-fi processes into a hi-fi system is such bless.

"I had the great fortune of playing during the magical hour, starting in the daytime (which isn't very common), only to realize, at the end of the trance, that it was already night. The immersion was deep, and I can't recall details, only the sensation of having been in Temple and accessing other places, opening door after door of sounds, as in a dream. The arrangement of cushions on the floor of Espacio Perpendicular was very apt, allowing us to lie down with our eyes closed and finally see the music clearly, abruptly cutting off the continuous consumption of our energy that visual stimuli usually take. And yet, not ceasing to see beautiful images in our imagination. Many thanks to everyone who gathered there, and infinite thanks for inviting me to be part of something so special."

"In the summer heat, a refreshing escape awaits. Icy winds and swirling blizzards envelop us in cold, revealing serene drones and a tranquil, snowy landscape with a still lake under a vast, white expanse. Abstract rhythms and distant voices weave through, culminating in delicate frequencies that leave us in a peaceful, frosty reverie."

For the past 20 years, Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo, known by his moniker STBL (@stable-mechanism), has been developing his work in the realms of electronic music and sound art. With beginnings deeply rooted in the most elusive and daring music, he has strived to maintain a stylistic coherence, oscillating between distinctly minimalist approaches and more "musical" ones, always balancing sobriety and rhetoric.

Author's note: My proposal for Temple clearly reflects all the paths I have been exploring in recent years, utilising field recordings, generative synthesis, and more classical ambient patterns. As is customary, each live performance by STBL is ephemeral and unique to each occasion, making this recording a snapshot of the present and a memory of my appearance at the marvellous Espacio Perpendicular.

#temple_for_listeners is an event dedicated to attentive listening and static dance, curated by Camu and Josephine's Soundscapes for Espacio Perpendicular.
