This was originally just a small section of a larger song with multiple beatswitches but the other sections were mid and I liked this one so I developed it into a full song. This was my first attempt at venturing into R&B. Kell been telling me to drop this for ages lol. It's an old ahh song and I originally was planning on re-recording everything and making it perfect and having a whole promo plan for it and making it be a big hit type shi but over time I ended up making better music and this got lost to time and now it's no longer one of my best songs but i still do like it so that's why its here.

　2024年3月に公開されたマヒトゥ・ザ・ピーポーの初監督作品『i ai』は、赤い色彩に彩られた異形の青春映画であった。
　舞台は兵庫の明石と神戸。主人公となる新米バンドマンのコウ（富田健太郎）と、コウが憧れるヒー兄（森山未來）を中心に、生を死をめぐるストーリーが展開される。それはマヒトの実体験を土台にしたものでもあり、現実とフィクションが二重写しになりながら、やがてその境界線はじわりじわりと融解していく。共演はさとうほなみ、堀家一希、吹越満、永山瑛太、小泉今日子、K-BOMB、大宮イチなど個性的な面々。写真家の佐内正史による透明感あふれる映像がこの作品に特別な情感を与えていたことも特筆すべきだろう。
　映画のセオリーに囚われることのないその作品には、「壊れゆく社会のなかで他者と関わりながらどのように生きていくことができるのか」という、近年のGEZANの作品やマヒトの文筆活動にも共通するテーマが投げかけられていた。私たちは決してひとりで生きていくことはできない。だが、他者と生きることもまた決して楽なことではない。世界の分断が極限まで進んだこの時代を私たちはどのように乗り越えることができるのだろうか？
　監督のみならず、脚本や劇中音楽までマヒトが手がけたこの作品のなかで極めて強い印象を残していたのが、「i ai」と題されたメインテーマ曲だった。GEZANの新曲でもあるこの曲は、ここ数年のGEZANの取り組みの延長上にあるもの。この12インチシングルはその「i ai」を収録しており、初のアナログリリースとなる。
　柔らかなギターのアルペジオに導かれ、少しずつ熱を帯びていくその楽曲には、静けさと激しさを内包した映画のムードが凝縮されている。言葉にならない複数の声を束ねた合唱は、社会からこぼれ落ちた嘆きのようにも、歓喜の叫びのようにも聞こえる。GEZANは総勢15名のコーラス隊Million Wish Collectiveとの活動も展開してきたが、ここにはその活動で培われた感覚が活かされている。
　また、この曲は9分8秒にわたるゆったりとしたダンストラックと捉えることもできるだろう。南米など各地で生み出されているオーガニックなダンストラックと共通するものがあり、世界各地のグローカルミュージックを扱ってきたGLOCAL RECORDSから、それも12インチシングルというDJフレンドリーな形でリリースされることにも意義がある。
　B面にはGEZANとの縁も深いCOMPUMAによるリミックスを収録。アフリカ的なパーカッションで始まり、途中では親指ピアノなどを挟みつつ、ふたたび印象的なあの合唱へと戻る。めまぐるしく起承転結が入れ替わる、18分18秒のショート・ムーヴィー。そんなドラマチックなリミックスである。
　カッティング＆マスタリングを手がけたのはDJとしても活動するTOREI。アートワークを手がけたのは東京在住のヴィジュアルアーティスト／グラフィック・デザイナー、jvnpey。彼らの愛情あふれる仕事ぶりもこの12インチを特別なものにしている。
「分断」という言葉の対義語をAIに問うてみると、「統合」「連結」「統一」「団結」「融和」という言葉が次々に表示された。どの言葉もどこか白々しく、こそばゆいが、「i ai」という楽曲に鳴り響く蜃気楼のような合唱は、「分断」の対義語となる新しい言葉を探り当てようとしているようにも思える。映画『i ai』では「エンドロールが終わった後も共に生きよう」というメッセージが投げかけられていたが、この12インチからは「音が止まったあとも共に生きよう」というメッセージが浮かび上がってくるのである。
