In the ruins of the cathedral, the machine waits. Its purpose is unclear, its hum steady, its randomness precise. The hands that built it are long gone, their intentions scattered like dust in the stained glass light.

And yet, a melody emerges.

Fragile at first, as if pulled from the cracks of the machine itself. It twists and falters, rising through the chaos, threading between fractured textures. It does not linger—it is too elusive, too human. A brief resonance of something long forgotten, before dissolving back into the drone.

The machine does not speak, but it listens. Its frequencies ripple through thought, stitching together fragments of memory, weaving chaos into fleeting patterns. The air feels alive, charged with the weight of something unsaid.

They say it was built not for power, but for understanding. To hear what cannot be spoken. To shape what cannot be seen. Its final act is sudden—a crescendo of harmony collapsing into silence.

In the stillness, the question lingers: who built it? And why?

In the week following the release of the critically acclaimed second album ‘The Vanishing’ in May 2024, Invictus Hi-Fi live-streamed a set of raw and experimental performances directly from his studio deep in the wilds of eastern England.

‘Appearance’ features the best from these sessions, where IHF made use of live remixing techniques inspired by Dub sound systems to bring unique new dimensions to tracks from his albums and singles.

I don't where to start or how to put in words the description of this track since I've been working on this for almost a month; realizing, remaking and evolving it as my understanding of the concepts got deeper.

The basic idea behind the making of this track is synchronization and connection (between you and people or you and your self). My original idea came from a very personal learning/ realization. The various elements such as glitches, granulization or ambiance quite literally depict the vibes I get from my little group of friends. I think it is very important that people realize the potential depth of connection attainable with a person, oneself or a place even. So in a way, I'm celebrating our little brotherhood and all the bullshit we did here in Bangalore the past two months or so, mrL1ght style.

mrL1ght is not just an alias, but a philosophy; a way of life fashioned out of learning from and living the music we love so damn much.

My concept in a sentence - to be as humble and precise as tones and melody, as energetic and in the moment as rhythm, as passionate and intriguing as noise and, lastly, as accepting and strong as silence.

The songs to the right of this box are much like pages of an aural diary - recordings of the energies in my body, the flow of thought in my mind and the feelings/ coloured flames in my soul - all sampled out of radically different periods in my life.

My only request to you, my listeners, is that you keep an open mind about catergorizations such as genre. Such things tend to constrict creative outflow so I don't try to give a fuck too much about it.

That's about my music. About gear: I own an Alienware M14x, a kickass Sony MDR serie headphones, a M-Audio MIDI controller (Key Rig 49) and I primarly use FL Studio (it's as good and as bad as any software ;). As you can see, I don't have too much hardware as of now which really slows my rate of production...

Lastly, if you've reading this far down, I thank you with all my being. Although this venture is purely personal, I will not pretend that your listens, favouriting and downloads don't matter. It does indeed fill my heart when someone can relate to my music because if you can, you are truly connecting with me <3
