James Correa has a Doctor degree in composition (SUNY Buffalo), Master in composition and Bachelor in guitar (UFRGS). His works have been performed in Argentina, United States, Canada, Europe, and in the most important concert halls and Contemporary Music Festivals in Brazil. 
Correa was co-founder and the first director of NMC-POA (a centre for contemporary music in Porto Alegre-Brazil); Associated Composer in the CME (Electronic Music Centre at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil); founder member of the multimedia ensemble Sons Transgênicos; and co-founder of the International Multimedia Festival Multiple-X. He have been a guest composer in contemporary music festivals in Brazil and United States. He was adjunct professor of computer music in the music department at University at Buffalo, and he is now professor of composition, computer music, and responsible for LabComp, the computer music studio at Federal University of Pelotas, Brazil.
