Die meisten von uns gelangen früher oder später in den Bann des elektronischen Kosmos, doch dies bereits im Alter von zarten 4 Jahren zu tun erscheint doch höchst exzeptionell. Und auch wenn dies auf den ersten Blick schier unmöglich zu sein scheint, so war es tatsächlich der Fall für den jungen Christoph alias Click | Click, als dieser zum damaligen Zeitpunkt das erste Mal Kraftwerk im Radio hörte. Kein Wunder also, dass dieses Erlebnis sein Leben maßgeblich verändern sollte.

Sein Name entstammt dabei seinen frühsten musikalischen Wurzeln als er noch den minimaleren Klängen des Technos verfallen war und in welcher Zeit er ebenfalls sein erstes eigenes Label namens Kassette Records im Jahre 2006 ins Leben rief. Und auch wenn seitdem viel passiert ist und sich musikalisch viel verändert hat, Click | Click blieb seinen musikalischen Wurzeln durch Beibehaltung seines Namens treu. Durch seine musikalische Transformation von Minimal Techno zu Jackin' House veränderten sich auch die Labels im Laufe der Zeit, auf welchen man sein musikalisches Geschick seit Jahren verfolgen kann.

Im Jahr 2013 gründete er bereits sein zweites Label Palms & Flamingos, welches eben solchen Projekten Platz zu verschuf, die sich über die Jahre entwickelt hatten. Es ließ nicht lange auf sich warten, bis viele namhafte Labels der Szene von seiner künstlerischen Raffinesse Wind bekamen. So veröffentlichte Click | Click bereits zahlreiche Releases auf Imprints wie Green Velvet/ Cajmere's Cajual, Shir Khan's Exploited Ghetto, Mihalis Safras' Label Mr. Carter/ Material und RIVA STARR's Snatch Records, was ihm nicht nur unzählige Chartpositionierungen auf einschlägigen Plattformen, sondern auch weiteres großes internationales Interesse an seiner Musik bescherte.

So landeten Produktionen wie Teenage Killerfunkband (2010), Ducks In The Kiddie Pool (2013), The Muzic Box (2015) oder Birdhain (2017) bereits in Plattenkisten von Szenegrößen wie Magda, Jamie Jones, Green Velvet oder Claude VonStroke. Diese doch sehr diversifizierte und respektable Wertschätzung seines kreativen Tuns brachte ihm selbstverständlich auch vielzählige nationale und internationale Auftritte in den besten Clubs und auf den wichtigsten Festivals der Welt ein.

So spielte er bislang in namhaften Venues wie dem Berliner Club Watergate, Ministry of Sound London oder dem D-Edge Sao Paulo, als auch dem mittlerweile nach Portugal verlegten BPM Festival Mexiko oder dem Monarch/ Great Northern in San Francisco. Auch seine bislang absolvierten Touren durch unterschiedlichste Länder wie Brasilien, Mexiko, USA, China, Südkorea oder Thailand machen unmissverständlich klar, dass man den Namen Click | Click so schnell besser nicht vergessen sollte.

Berlin duo Kolett & Zadak continue their hot streak on Exploited Ghetto following the success of Amplifire and Azizam with another formidable creation.

Familiar faces behind the decks at clubs in their home town like Kater Blau, Sisyphos or Ritter Butzke, theirs is a deep and heady sound. Roadhouse rocks a swung triplet rhythm which immediately makes it stand out along with its sinister off-beat bassline. On-beat hats further the jarring feel as hypnotic, warped vocal cuts and sustained synth notes heighten the eerie vibe. It’s a moment of relief from the sonic tension when the epic bassline cuts its way into the heart of the track, with the commanding vocal refrain coming out of nowhere to lay the icing on the cake. Wobbly 8-bit synths add more texture before the brooding bassline grows in swagger with metallic layers swirling out of the ether to bolster its power. Despite its vigour, it’s somehow understated, with its tense feel doing away with the need for excessive power.

Whitesquare deliver a superb rework, taking elements from the original and marrying them to a more straight-up, rolling 4/4 groove that’s laced with delicious conga rolls. Pretty chime sounds play out the chord progression and build the emotion as those vocal cuts are boosted up cleverly to a lead refrain status. A bold marimba melody cuts into play, spaciously reverbed, before a plump analog bassline pumps its way into action. A careful, uncluttered arrangement and excellent mixing allows each element to shine beautifully, with subtle field recording type nature sounds and well-placed FX filling in the gaps perfectly.

Where the two actually originate, nobody knows for sure. Rumors have it that they once had a common love for sprat fishing and point their fateful meeting to somewhere on the North German Coast.
If you believe the various rumors, Zadak lost his pants in a raid by the Department of Fish and Game, while Kotelett, due to an overdose of moonshine, lost his Boating License. Both lost their Fishing Licenses and, whoops!, there went their livelihood...
What was left for them to do but abscond to the interior, a bleary-eyed and shady escape to where no one knew them by name. "From now on ...." one of the two is said to have mumbled into his beard; which one is still not known. All in all it was a perfectly logical development, since the nights were rough anyway and the lamest things always ended up in the Net...if all catfish are gray.
And so, control rod was quickly exchanged with controller, stroke side with backspin, and fog horn with fog machine. What was formerly filleted, is now being filtered, what was being caught, is now pitched. Since then they have never again scrubbed the decks, but instead record from them.
Now, wherever they drop their anchor: there blows a strong bass-breeze, sound waves rise and no shot glass remains dry. Every Mermaid has exchanged her ingenue for a good pair of dance shoes and goes crazy from the unmistakable sound of the two self-acclaimed Club- Irish. Whosoever doesn't hold tight to the bar will be swept away like the sprats in the net.
Even after days-long sets and a potently boozy fee, a glance into the crowd of faces, tanned by the thick club air, reveals all: Kotelett and Zadak remain uncompromised and bring together that which belongs together - music and magic moments.
(The Department of Fish and Game would like to add: "We are simply happy to be rid of them.")
