In this episode they explore maturity—Jesus is always inviting us to live our lives by the values, priorities, and norms of an unseen kingdom. He calls it the Kingdom of God. And He says those who “fit” in this unseen kingdom are childlike in their relationship with Him. And He says this childlike-ness is actually what maturity looks like. The more childlike we are in the way we relate to Him and follow Him and live out our purpose in the world, the more mature we are. And all of this is tied to our relationship with the Spirit of Jesus, the “rabbi inside” who is always available to us. A Spirit-dependent life is also a maturing life…

Season 8 Episode 10 - What Maturity Is, and Isn't

Join Rick and the Becky-nator for Episode 8 of Season 11 - “The Enemy” - a continuation of the series “THE WAYS OF JESUS.” Here Rick and Becky explore themes drawn from his just-released book Editing Jesus. In this episode they continue “reverse-engineering” back from Jesus—that means we have to account for His relationship with the supernatural, and what He says our relationship with the supernatural will be like, even if that makes us uncomfortable. One of Rick’s friends sometimes asks, as a kind of greeting, “How’s your relationship with Satan?” He always follows that with: “We all have one.” It’s a lighthearted way to surface a real issue. Satan is called “the enemy of God,” and Jesus tells us the Kingdom-standard for love is “loving our enemies and praying for those who persecute us.” Does that mean we’re, somehow, supposed to love the enemy of God? Here we explore the difference in posture Jesus models toward flesh-and-blood enemies, and enemies that inhabit “the unseen world.”
