Slate Label’s new track In It for the Ride combines punchy riffs, melodic flares and powerhouse drums, combining a variety inspirations of Sam Fender, Foo Fighters, Catfish and the Bottlemen, and other indie/alt artists. The band wanted to follow their debut EP with something more polished, higher quality and written to perfection, and so put a higher budget into The Garage Studios with producer Kyle Martin to hit fans with a whole new image. 

In It for the Ride

Slate Label’s ‘Bitter End’, their follow-up single to ‘In It for the Ride’, continues their punchy answer to their previously released self-titled EP. This track is by far the bands grungiest, answering their previous single’s love-led lyrics with harder-hitting lines about struggles within the world. Continuing to take inspiration from Foo Fighters, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Sam Fender, the track (as always) is a clear combination of each member’s tastes, giving their audience just a taste of the new Slate Label era. If ‘In It for the Ride’ was the starter, ‘Bitter End’ is definitely the main course.

Slate Label are an enticing five-piece alt-rock outfit on the rise from South Shields, UK, consisting of Adam Stubbs, Daniel Nellist, Eva Sanchez, James Horwood and Joseph Meston. The band offer a fusion of local-hero Sam Fender with their favourite bands like Fontaines D.C., Wunderhorse, Queens of the Stone Age and Catfish and the Bottlemen, creating a sound unique to any other band going.
Entering the music scene with their first singles in 2024, the group have already impressed audiences, winning Roulette Festival’s Battle of the Bands; winning Waves Festival’s Apply to Play competition, putting them alongside Red Rum Club, Tom A Smith and Miles Kane; being nominated for SPARK Radio’s ‘Newcomer of the Year’ award; reaching the final of 2025’s The Road to Hardwick competition; and most recently winning Marisam Events’ Elevate 22 competition at Cluny 2. Aside from the festival scene, the group have also become favourites for local stages across the Northeast, such as Independent and The Newgate Social. Their live shows offer an infectious energy, featuring their high-paced alt-rock anthems with sombre ballads, leaving audiences anticipating what is next for the band.

Behind the machines stands Bob Rooky, a creative alchemist juggling two passions since the late 90s: electronic music and graphic design. Born in 1974 near Paris, he witnessed the digital revolution transform both artistic realms.
His musical journey unfolds through The Rooky Flange, pushing boundaries between jungle, reggae and experimental sounds, while Rflange Project explores editorial ventures and visual storytelling.
Years of computer-assisted music production have shaped his unique sonic universe, where his graphic designer's eye creates bridges between visual and audio landscapes. Driven by passion for electronic sounds and visual creation, Bob Rooky continues contributing his own flavor to France's rich electronic scene.
