The next piece of the puzzle from party starting outfit Bizarre Trax has been carefully constructed by the founding members - Felon5 & B.Love. The dynamic trio and their funk loving compadre join forces for two cuts on the A side, before teaming up in pairs on the flip for a track each, Jhobei & oliver.r before Charleze & B.Love close out the EP.

Four tracks layered with playful yet infectious charm, crammed full of the colourful character that has become synonymous with the London based label. The EP is headed up by the sought after “The Talkbox Track”, catapulting BT into what is shaping up to be an amazing 5th birthday year in 2024.

It was played on the last day of the festival, that precise moment when the birds take the time to go down from the great heavens.

Acid Chaz, the alias of Charles Tucker, takes a nostalgic dive into early HipHop aesthetics with "The Acid Chaz Chronicles", a four-tracker that showcases his deep appreciation for the genre’s roots. "Seasonal Quartet," the most evocative cut from the release, is a downtempo gem that seamlessly blends HipHop with dreamy, cinematic textures.

Built upon a rich tapestry of sampled scratches and vintage HipHop samples, the track exudes a warm, analog charm that feels both timeless and deeply personal. Acid Chaz curates these elements with a crate-digger’s touch, layering them into a lush instrumental that could easily serve as a foundation for MCs or R&B vocalists. Yet, even in its purely instrumental form, "Seasonal Quartet" unfolds like a story—its mellow groove pulling the listener into a reflective state before reaching a subtle but significant turning point toward the end.

Charles Tucker’s versatility shines through, as his Acid Chaz persona contrasts with his more club-oriented output under Charleze and his contributions to the Felon5 trio (alongside Jhobei and Oliver.r). To mark its tenth digital release, the Bizarre Trax-affiliated TAN label unveils TAN Trax All Stars - a ten-track celebration that feels more like a love letter to the crew’s extended musical family than a mere compilation. What started as a playful outlet parallel to the more curated, wax-driven Bizarre Trax has evolved into a fully formed identity of its own: cheeky, groove-soaked, and ever dancefloor-minded.

Opening this milestone release is “Imperfection” by Jhobei - not just TAN royalty, but one of the driving forces behind Bizarre Trax itself. With past outings on FUSE, Up The Stuss, Locked In, Mood Waves, BinarySound, and more, Jhobei’s sound has become a trademark: a hybrid of housey warmth, technical precision, and just enough cheek to make you smile mid-mix.

“Imperfection” doesn’t knock at the door - it slips through the cracks like golden hour light, casting long shadows of funk and warmth across the floor. A nimble House bassline sets the pulse, elastic but grounded, wrapped in fluttering pads and tight, swung percussion. The titular vocal - clipped, unfussy - drops in almost as an afterthought, but anchors the track like a mantra. Jhobei adds just enough synth variation to keep the groove shapeshifting, always teasing, never overplaying its hand.

Like much of Jhobei’s work, “Imperfection” doesn’t beg to be heard - it just feels like it’s always been there, waiting to soundtrack a hazy morning after or a peak-time wiggle. As far as mission statements go, it’s a perfect opener for an imprint built on community, playfulness, and groove without ego.

Ten releases deep, TAN’s personality is sharper than ever - and “Imperfection” is a reminder that sometimes the smoothest things come with just the right amount of grit.

Torture the Artist - your source for contemporary electronic music

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'. This medium gives DJs and producers the artistic freedom to highlight their different musical styles while not being restricted by factors such as setting, and connecting them to a wider audience. 

Being in its ninth year, Torture the Artist has gained a strong and active online support group, including music enthusiasts to label managers and artists themselves, creating a cohesive community with music as their bond.

Circa Groove is a London-based independent record label representing the global movement in underground dance music.
