Breaking These Chains

"Camped Out" explores the depths of overthinking and obsessing. With its raw sound and introspective lyrics, it takes listeners on a journey through a busy mental landscape, reflecting how thoughts can consume us. Inspired by a podcast about neurotherapy to overcome an ex-partner, the song captures the turmoil of preoccupation while acknowledging the comfort in fixations. It speaks to the universal experience of overthinking, making it a compelling anthem for anyone navigating their own mind's complexities.

This music was made on the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council (Whitehorse). It was recorded at Jordy Walker's beautiful backyard studio, Stackwall Sound. Both Jordy Walker and his space provide a warm refuge during the cold Yukon winters.

Guitar-slinging headbanger Shaynie Rhoads was raised on the music of her parents’ generation, from Metallica and Van Halen to Madonna and Wham. She grew up going to concerts, skateboarding and collecting comic books and trading cards. When she was sixteen, she wrote her first song about World of Warcraft.

“I was always a bit of a misfit, and not the cool kind,” she tells SD Voyager Magazine.  “I was the girl that showed up to class in blue eyeshadow and faux fur platform boots. I drove a crusty old car and worked at Vons so that I could buy band shirts and concert tickets.”

After high school, Shaynie went to college to study the classical guitar, where she also learned how to sing and compose.  She attempted to keep up with trends by writing pop music, but eventually returned to her roots in rock ‘n’ roll.

As a recording artist, Shaynie releases her music independently.  She is the primary songwriter and frontman of Runesaber, a heavy metal band she founded in 2024.

Sara MacDonald is the song-writing force behind the Yukon band “the august arrival.”  The august arrival will resonate deeply with fans of intimate indie folk-rock. The music’s driving melodies, poetic lyricism and atmospheric instrumentation intertwine and create an emotionally charged journey that lingers with listeners long after the final notes fade away. moments.

Stripped down to their acoustic upbringings, her songs are intimate; with haunting melodies and vocal performances that cause one to wonder if they should feel guilty for eavesdropping on a reflective private moment.

Biography
IANWILL is a French metal band based in Paris and North of France, evolving in a universe infused with metalcore and death influences, where hard-hitting melodic compositions blend with a raw and incisive aesthetic.

After releasing two EPs that laid the foundation for their sound, the band reinvented itself in 2017 with a new lineup. This turning point marked a significant evolution, solidifying their artistic identity and refining their increasingly sophisticated technical approach.

Since then, IANWILL has performed across France and Europe, captivating audiences with striking and intense live performances. In 2019, the band released their debut album, ‘One Credit Left’, mixed and mastered by Florent Salfati (Homeless Records), which received enthusiastic and unanimous praise from both fans and the press.

In early 2024, the band began working on a new EP, mixed and mastered by HK (Vamacara Studio). Following the release of its first single in June 2024, the EP, titled ‘Echoes’, will be available in June 2025, marking a new milestone in the band’s musical journey.

Red Thread is a new harmony-forward folk ensemble playing original music rooted in Eastern European, Yiddish, and Americana lineage. With lush harmonies and the tight performance of a family band, Red Thread unspools the line of folk tradition, merging rich vocal and string arrangements with the stories of real people’s lived experience that are embedded within folk songs.
