The dialogue is from the show Normal People, which I watched recently during an unexpected Covid quarantine. I thought the show was absolutely beautiful. If you were a fan of the Before trilogy, you should watch this.

I felt inspired to write something, and certainly had enough time on my hands to do so... The idea of clipping one of the more emotional dialogues came to mind, and this scene, in particular, hit like a ton of bricks. I accompanied the dialogue with a gradual, and then rushing swell of sound, which pops like a bubble, yielding to a tender collage of piano, texture, and bass.

This "popping" moment happens a couple times in the song. To me, it feels like an unguarded moment in which past memories pour into the empty space of a daydream, but evaporate like ghosts in an instant as one is reoriented to the present - a sobering instant in which you remember that your love has somehow gotten away from you. The good in those memories, now, just a feeling that seems impossible to reconcile.

Put this one on your best speakers or headphones if you get a chance.

First off, thank you so much for following me! I know everyone is busy with their own lives, and I really appreciate your time. I hope you gain some enjoyment from my music. I know I get tremendous satisfaction from both creating music as well as sharing it with you all.

Not even necessarily with me, just with some emerging artist. I want to get to the point where I can do the same with others, that's where the true satisfaction is.

In a way I see my music production as a way to my own redemption, although I realize that I could never write anything wonderful enough to accomplish that, so I must rely on the grace of God through Christ for that. Every composition I produce is my meager attempt of an offering to God, so you will find a piece of my soul and heart in each of my musical pieces. My music is the mirror of my soul.

Trần Hữu Tuấn Bách sinh năm 1989 tại Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh - Việt Nam. Từ nhỏ, anh đã có niềm đam mê đối với nhạc không lời nói chung và nhạc phim nói riêng. Anh bắt đầu học piano từ năm 5 tuổi, sau đó theo học Piano chính quy tại Nhạc viện Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh năm 8 tuổi. Anh tốt nghiệp chương trình Trung cấp dài hạn vào năm 2009 và tốt nghiệp bằng Cử nhân Piano năm 2014. Năm 18 tuổi, anh tự tập sáng tác các bản nhạc không lời và cho ra những tác phẩm khí nhạc đầu tiên của mình.

 

Anh bắt đầu sự nghiệp soạn nhạc cho phim vào năm 2010. Khi tham gia cộng đồng cuộc thi phim YxineFF, anh có cơ hội viết những phim ngắn đầu tay của mình. Từ năm 2014, anh chính thức soạn nhạc cho các phim tại Việt Nam. Đến nay anh đã viết được hơn 10 bộ phim, trong số đó tiêu biểu là “Em Là Bà Nội Của Anh” và “Cô Gái Đến Từ Hôm Qua” (Phan Gia Nhật Linh), “Anh Trai Yêu Quái” (Vũ Ngọc Phượng), “Bằng Chứng Vô Hình” (Trịnh Đình Lê MInh), "Tiệc Trăng Máu" (Nguyễn Quang Dũng), v.v...
