My set opening the fire circle at Flow in the Forest 2025 and performing for the opening ceremony of this dedicated fire and flow arts festival set in the beautiful woodlands of Cambridgeshire here in the UK. This was definitely one of the most challenging sets I have ever put together, but it was an absolute pleasure ending it with music to burn the ever talented Beau Bidwell's fire sculptures. My style is typically formed around integrating different genres and so I'm accustomed to (and like messing around with) tricky transitions and moving between wide ranges of tempos, but this was on another level. We go from slow to fast, fast to slow and fast again, contorting tracks out of their BPM range- we move from big cinematic tunes and orchestral techno into cround pleasing break beats, dubstep, some dark ambient soundscapes, ceremonial-esque tracks (for the opening ceremony) and finally- drum and bass. Phew! Damn you Soundcloud- it's rarely going to be one genre with me ;)! This had me push the limits of what you can do on two decks. There's harmony, there's dissonance and everything in between- it's light, hopeful and encouraging and then dark, sinister and raging. It's a simulation of nature (purposely going with Flow in the Forest's elemental theme of Fire, Water, Earth and Air) with some calculated glitches, chaos, and yes, even maths. It pushes the limits of what you can do on two decks- at this rate, I'm itching for a third to work with *sweats*. Please enjoy and let me know what you think (:
