I wrote this song a few times, so I felt I needed to reach a point of completion. It's much softer, more of a ballad. Thematically speaking, it leans in to the beautiful feeling when you realise someone else is looking after you. Be it your God, your love, your family, it truly is a wonderful thing, and at some point, we all need saving.

This album has been a personal struggle for a few reasons, but this feels like a logical conclusion. I guess the song speaks to that, and the fact that through sheer persistence and belief, things will get better.

Becoming Whole Again

And thus, beautiful people, we have reached the shoreline. It is both a beginning and an end, depending on your point of view. Or, this is a dance track to conclude the album, and I hope you like it.

Another concept piece effectively, with a bit of a robotic vibe. More videogame soundtrack than dancefloor banger for sure.

Flux

This melody was in my head when I woke up, which means it's either some sort of cosmic premonition, or I have unwittingly heard it somewhere. Sort of kind of anthemic I guess, definitely retro (as usual), but something I have enjoyed making (as usual). If you enjoy the listening, do please let me know - it would be a blessed relief to hear from a real person using actual sentences of their own creation. I digress, enjoy!

Wake

Something rousing for the dark nights ahead. We all fall at some point, but it's how we pick ourselves back up and go again, and again that defines the outcome. I hope you enjoy this, and keep going, even when it's tough.

We Fall and Fly Again

Just some chord noodling led me to this banger (IMHO). Something energetic for the chilly weather perhaps? Anyway, as always, listen and hopefully enjoy.

Hold the Line

I lost my Mum in 2019, and one of the last things she said to me (in a voicemail) was that she had been told she could come home from hospital. I will never forget the joy in her voice when she said that. She came home and died, but I know it was where she needed to be. Not a day goes by when I don't think about my parents who have both moved on, so please, show your love, enjoy every minute and never forget.

Come Home

A familiar tune to me, warranting a new angle. It's mainly symphonic, but does stray into rhythmical sections. It is difficult to marry the two, as symphonic sounds tend to be bright and sparkly, whereas dance-themed bass is generally the opposite. So, I did it anyway. A bit longer than I would normally like, but the structure didn't lend itself to brevity.

Perspective

I have been creating music since my misspent youth. Every song has a story.

I started with sample based tracks via Dance eJay and Acid Music on my x486 PC, the output from which I would describe as interpretive.

My first writing from scratch started with the glorious Yamaha RM1x and subsequently the Yamaha RS7000. With limited responsibility and seemingly endless weekends, I found the creative spark.

I have diddled a bit with my Teenage Engineering OP-1, Novation Circuit and Korg Electribe 2 (see tracks for evidence), and I briefly touched the Native Instruments Maschine MK2 but I didn't have the PC power to run with that.

Once Akai announced the MPC Live, I was positively salivating and purchased on release.

It has always been about an all in one box solution for me, and now I am only limited by my own creativity and precious free time (thanks, kids).

I write things that I like to listen to, but commercial music this is not. I could see my music in a game, artsy video or fever dream.

At least, when it's all done, I can say that I made some nice noise, even if nobody else thinks so.
