Ganapati is the 🎶 psychedelic electronic project of Shehan Thenuwara, a professional music producer and sound designer from Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Initially a fan of artistic new age music 🎨 and well-versed in Eastern music traditions, Shehan discovered psytrance and began his journey with the project "Ganapati," a progressive psychedelic trance act 🚀. As an emerging DJ and producer in Sri Lanka's psychedelic scene, Ganapati is known for delivering funky beats infused with a "forestry attitude" 🌳.

Inspired by ancient superhuman civilizations 🦾 and Sri Lankan culture 🇱🇰, Ganapati's music features biomechanical sounds, wildlife calls, and elements of traditional forestry. The project aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving Sri Lanka's wildlife 🐘, highlighting the plight of many species facing extinction 🦉.

The name "Ganapati" is derived from the Asian and Hindu cultural deity "Ganesh" 🐘, symbolizing wisdom and celebrating one of Sri Lanka's greatest treasures, the elephant.

47: What the New Administration Means for our Forests

Another Weekly Track! This time the prompt theme was to write a city/town/village theme that wasn't based on major, minor, or any of the melodic minor modes. I opted for Lydian, and came up with this lil' foresty jam. Hope you Enjoy!

How can you call this a town there's only like 5 NPC's

A heartfelt 150 minute ride from me as I explore the musical expression that is a culmination of industrial, machiney and natural tones, representing the modern day era of humanity we currently live in. It also relies on funky keywords to break up the trip and accelerate it in specific points and I believe these small subtly picked tracks with vocals act as a whispering background in the trip.

I believe my life has been a loop of sorts in the past decade where I have been in touch with this magical subgenre of EDM. The set relies on the same concept, where I personally bring it back to a known point at multiple instances within the set, similar tracks of similar tonalities that set the comfort zone. 

While I give a cozy description of the track, rest assured when I say this is probably the most driving, full-power, twisted set I have ever uploaded. Now its time for 150 minutes of Shiva Tandavam and I hope you like this journey. :)

Underground Colombo (UC) was envisioned by Kushan Dissanayake, and his co-founder, Kasun Dissanayake, who is known as Kais D. This dynamic duo, driven by their shared passion for underground music, embarked on this journey together in 2016.

Inspired by the vibrant energy of Sri Lanka's music scene, they had a vision—to cultivate a close-knit community that immersed itself in the rhythms they cherished. Alongside them was their best friend, Buddika Wijebandara, forming an unbreakable trio.

Their first step was the establishment of a Facebook community, a digital haven for kindred spirits, which rapidly flourished and now boasts a dedicated following of 15,000 strong. But that was only the beginning.

Determined to take their passion to the next level, they decided to launch their own SoundCloud page. This expansion was made possible with the unwavering support of Azmara Veera, a pivotal figure in UC's journey. She, along with the team, contributed creative forces that allowed UC to venture into new territories. 

However, UC isn't solely about music; it's a dynamic, all-encompassing experience. They added a unique visual and editorial flair to UC, making it an aesthetic delight.

Underground Colombo on SoundCloud is more than just a platform; it's a testament to the commitment and dedication of these individuals and the community they've nurtured. The beats, melodies, and sonic landscapes come to life through this collaborative effort.

The core of this partnership resonates with my mythical, mystical ethnic roots, enriched by a decade of European immersion.

As I thread the line between ancient mysteries and futuristic soundscapes, my quest continues. I'm forever open to collaborative harmonies, to dance on different stages, and to connect with kindred souls in the labyrinth of the music industry.
