Alright, I made this a while back, and never publically released it. So, in future, tracks like these who haven't seen the light of day will be considered "lost tracks." Hope this ties everyone over until I release another SPOOKY THEME for this Halloween! Please stay tuned for this month!

I don't know what I was on when I made this, but it's 2 A.M. rn, and I'm uploading this. I thought that the tense part of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons: Fall - Allegro I" sounds well with the runaway theme. So, I did exactly that, with the help of the MIDI. Please enjoy. I'm gonna go to bed...

Four Seasons was inspired by paintings of Robert Florczak, who kindly gave me permission to write concert music based on four of them and to include them here for your benefit. His style in these particular works evoked in me a sense of the fantastic, sometimes surreal (both artistically and figuratively) and a Kierkegaardian idea of aesthetics whose implications reach beyond the temporal .

	The “surreal” element in these works happen when one gets past the realism and asks about the persistent symbols: the vibrant flowers in Winter under a frigid but not cold moon, the sense of eternal depth in the mountains of Spring, the suspension of physical properties in the Autumn, and the odd picture of remembered romance in the melancholy and passion of Summer. Symbols arise: the snow leopard, roses intense contemplation and not the least, the backstory of the couple, which is there even if not actually pictured.  
	
“Spring Dawn”

We have all experienced that moment where the material world seems like a fairy tale. Mornings that have that cool, but not cold, breeze accompanied by a warming sun. Mr Florczak reminded me that there was originally a young man leaning against a tree on the right that was deleted for this version. In my opinion, the sense of reflection in the woman actually enhances the romance.

The movement begins ordinarily enough, using #11 chords and a Lydian scale to bring out that quality of the ethereal. The violin has double stops, complimenting the drone in the left hand of the piano and of the low strings. Occasionally, a chromatic melody is used harmonically, as in other movements, based on the concepts of “hyper-extended chords” explored in my harmonics research.

Summer: Twilight Reflections

Evening arrives in the summer and day creatures sleep; others awake as daylight and warmth fade. There seems little to do except enjoy the company of the other, in hope or in disappointment. Nighthawks mark the silence in the bright moonlight, swooping after insects: it is bright enough for walking in contemplation, comfortable enough for sitting and remembering.

The opening is a melancholy solo violin, its four-note motif consistently present in the piano, and is handed around between solo violin, string orchestra and horn. The harmony changes with the mood and ends on a happy comfortable chord, as dark early morning approaches.

“Autumn Dance”

Initially, this was a waltz, but in the end it was decided that a jig (or “gigue”) better portrayed the celebration of the season that this painting’s colors implied. Again, we see the leopard and summer flowers unwilted in a season known for its passing of all things.

Inspired by an Irish fiddle piece, the movement presents the whole theme in the violin, then joined by the piano. In a typically Romantic style, the theme broken into motifs that are developed and changed until an extended coda finishes it off.

“Winter Rose” (Fantasia on a Theme)

This movement is based on a theme from the ballet The Castle: Redemption. It evokes images of warmth in cold, life in midwinter, and love conquering barrenness.

Set in an AABA form, the piece begins mysteriously, in homage to Holst’s Saturn, recalling the starkness of winter. It transformed harmonically into more positive directions. The B section moves forward, brightening the mood, and return to the A theme, with a positive ending.

Four Seasons On Works By Robert Florczak

Embark on a sonic journey inspired by Vivaldi's Four Seasons reimagined by Max Richter, interwoven with select works by a variety of brilliant composers and artists. This hour-long remix is a layered tapestry, beginning in late summer and moving seamlessly into a melancholy autumn. The path then plunges into the stark, icy throes of winter, where northern winds carry us through emotional peaks and valleys, immersing us in deep shadows before lifting us back into moments of exhilaration and beauty.

As we reach the finale, the journey reawakens with the arrival of spring: a powerful time of renewal and inspiration, a celebration of life and vitality. My hope is to offer listeners a fresh lens on classical music, one that reconnects us to the genius of these composers in a transformative way.

For the most immersive experience, listen with full focus, eyes closed, on a quality sound system with a dedicated subwoofer, or high quality headphones. Each track has been meticulously remastered to bring you the richest sonic depth. Let the music reshape your senses.
